Dr. Stoll:
I am a 55 year old female and have had severe acne since adolescence. Birth control or "cyclic hormone" pills since I was 18 provided the only relief. My adult acne is now controlled with topical antibiotics and Tetracycline.
I had one basal cell carcinoma removed from my forehead this past year. My dermotologist biopsied another blemish which looked like a blackhead - it was "just" a calcium deposit. Now I have many of these deposits on my forehead and both cheeks.
Help! What's causing them, and how can I remove/disolve the current ones and prevent additional deposits?
Daily, I take 2000 I.U. of Vit E, a multivitamin, Ginko Biloba, Ibuprofen, Glucosimine W/Chondroitin, Levothroid and HRT. The Ibuprofen and extra Vit. E are for Alzheimer's prevention per Harvard Mental Health Letters. (Dad diagnosed w/ late onset Alzheimer's.) The Glucosimine is for some arthritis developing in my thumbs (my 88 year old father has that condition too).
(I realize the Vit E I'm taking is the "dl" type, not the "d-Alpha...type it should be for optimum effect. And, after reading your information, I realize I should pay more attention to the time I take these supplements.)
Thank you for any help or suggestions you may have.
Carol

Hi, Carol.
Even though you are 55, STILL the most important thing for you to do is to get rid of WHY you have the skin problem--the calcium is just a consequence of "healing" for the past 40 years. Time for you to actually read the acne archives.
How did you miss the benefits of EFAs for this condition?
