DietingProblems

Posted by Beni on August 08, 2002 at 12:20:02:

Dr. Stoll,
I am 47 and am getting fatter every day! I was very thin all
my life until I hit my 40's. I'm 5foot 7 and went from 135
to 185 in 5 years! I tried Atkins but developed an ulcer
from the fats. Now I'm trying weight watchers. Is weight
watchers a succesful plan in your opinion? Ijust want to be
encouraged.
Beni

Hi, Beni.

Your weight gain is less than a pound a month--about right for getting older when there are no adjustments in caloric intake or exercise.

I am not saying that this is good only that you did not know this is almost universal.

ANY of the diets discussed in the weight loss archives will work if you stick to them. They will all work better if you also start a daily one hour walk.

I have never heard of the Atkins Diet causing an ulcer from the fats. What is the rational?

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
