Is mycoplasma a type of bacteria that our body can fight on its own? I have been reading on fibromylagia and this bacteria is mentioned often. What can be done to fight this?

thanks tom

No. Only extended repeated treatment with doxycycline up to 4x 200mg a day for the cycles of 6 weeks each, can help to whipe it. There is over 1000 strains of mycoplasma. Want more info go to www.immed.org
Prof. Garth Nicolson, PhD and his wife Nancy Nicholson, Phd perfected PCR DNA test for it. He is working with DOD, through contaract with Pentagon to train medics how to collect blood and test for Mycoplasmas Incognitus fermentas, believed to cause some of the symptoms of Gulf War Illness (MCS, CFDIS, FMS, SBS).
NOTE: The blood must be send on ICE to labs for testing, otherwise the test are not representative. Mycoplasma is bacteria in the form of 'uice" doe not have wall, and is now associated with asthma. The mycoplasma works from inside the cell, and damages macrophage, and than the reaction goes on.

Sylvia,

Mycoplasmas are not responsible for your rheumatoid arthritis. The fact that you have tested positive for them is proof positive that something else has altered your immunity.

I'm writing a book on arthritis and I have severe rheumatoid arthritis which is now in remission. If you would like I'll e-mail you the first couple of sections of the book. You'll see that there IS an answer -- BUT antibiotics are not it. If you are willing to learn you can get rid of your arthritis and all the toxic drugs.

Hi, Peggy.

Your best source would be to go to your library and ask the reference librarian to show you the entry in the right book.

There are several conditions related to this word & I would have to know which one you are referring to.

In your answer to Tom you have indicated that mycoplasma could not be gotten rid of without use of antibiotic treatment. I would like to know what ultimately happens in the event that one does not seek antibiotic treatment. What are the long-term effects of not seeking treatment?

Hi, Mario.

Go to the local medical library & have the librarian find you an atlas that would have this in it (most likely a Bacteriology Atlas). If you have no local medical school your local library can find you a copy but it might take them a couple of weeks to get it in.

Current research in our lab is directed toward mycoplasma and other organisms that are both difficult to culture and even more so to identify in living hosts. So far, the incidence of animal inoculation is poorly documented as it is often misidentified. The strain we are now studying is being sequenced and identification of the exotoxins has been slow. Images will soon be available as well as sequencing data.

There are few resources at this time. Sorry I can't offer better reference data, but the unknowns are still in the majority.

I am on board with the V.A>> in Nashville for the doubleblind study and it has been "real".
Dr. Kernodle and Nurse Greene have been SUPER helpful.
But I am tired. My wife is tired. My son is tired. We ache.
I forget. The headaches are there.Thank God fr Herbs, vitamins and nutritional supplements! I gave testimony to the Centers for Disease Control at their Conference on GWS this past March. The supplements are helping, abnd I can tell when I do NOT take them! Try amino's by Weider, NOW brand dry "E", lots of "C" and enzymes, enzymes, ENZYMES!!
See the BALCH's book on nutritional healing at your health food store and copy the pages on fibromyalgia.

Thanks, Paul.

Your experience kind of makes you wonder why the same safe and effective approaches are not at least suggested to patients by the conventional medical monopoly, doesn't it?

That is what this 'site is all about. If peoples' docs will not offer this kind of information, at least someone
will.

Tom, I have tested positive for Mycoplasma Fermentins (incognitus strain). I have found that this mycoplasma infection can cause many problems in the body, and many folks are being misdiagnosed with ALS, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue syndrome and in my case MS. I have a Gulf War links site up at http://rta.freeservers.com/ follow the link to Mr Hylak. He gives the best desciption to the symptoms. And from my exsperience Doxtcycline works very well for treating the infection. Good Luck.

Hi, Mike.

See the long description of what I have been trying to do in a short way for years. Go to the URL at 23980.html

MY expertise is trying to teach people to improve their immune reserves so they do not have to worry about environmental disease causing beasties very much.

Perhaps someone else on the bb will have the information you are seeking. I will learn right along with you.
