Help!
I have a V shaped row of around 7 small purplish lumps (2 mm to 3mm diameter) toward the innner portion of my tongue.
They have been there for almost 6 months now, and did not change in size or colour. First I noticed them when I had acute Tonsillitis.
I drink alcohol almost everyday, as well as smoke heavily.
Now I started to see a large lump on one of my tonsil which is painless but irritating.
Please help.

John, I would if I were you get this looked at quickly by a Doctor. May be not a thing to worry about but this needs to be confirmed. Good luck

John.
These are normal glands! See any anatomy atlas.
Let us know what you learn.

Thanks Doc.
Well months ago I had acute tonsilitis, and I noticed these lumps during that time. Even after the tonsilitis had gone away, they persisted and I was a bit scared.
A friend of mine told me that nodules on tongue is an indication of HIV.

They're tastebuds! I noticed mine too when I had tonsilitis cos I was examining everything in my throat more carefully. Really nothing to worry about. Do a search on google as I did and there are pages showing the tastebuds.

I had unsafe sex almost a year ago. After two months I had acute tonsilitis which lasted for a week, I was drinking cold beer till late nights during this time, hence there is enough reason for tonsilitis. But, I was not having tonsil infection for few years, and drinking chilled beer till late nights was a new habit that formed during this time. So it confuses me. Is there any chance to suspect HIV.
I have been told that HIV spreads only through intimate sex relations, please explain.

John,
The only way to assuage your concerns about HIV is to get regularly checked. All health departments have that service available at minimal or no cost.
Although anything that pierces the skin can transmit the HIV, sex is the most common.
Hope this helps.
