Quercitin and Allergies

Posted by Tony A on October 16, 1998 at 23:54:13:

I've been hearing a lot about Quercitin and allergies. One Naturopath told me that over time Quercitin will actually permanently diminish many allergies, and in some cases eliminate them all together. So I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with quercitin, and also how effective it is, how safe it is for long term use, the proper dosages, and if it will have any negative effects on an already very sensitive digestive system. I guess that's a lot of questions. Thanks for the help!

Dear Tony,

I have a lot of respect for Naturopathy. I will be happy to be proven wrong about this. Bring me up to date about it in 10 years and I'll bet that this statement will have been proven wrong.

Knowing what I already know about WHY people have allergies, there is NO ONE THING that will do what is being claimed for quercitin in relationship to allergies. At least SOME of the causes have to be addressed or any one thing will have but temporary benefits at best.

Walt

Hi Tony and Walt!

I've been using quercetin with good results - It does seem help to relieve some of my allergic symptoms from my LGS - itching/sensitive eyes and hives. I'd rather use it than the claritin prescription. I've also seen it listed in some of the natural support preparations my doc has prescribed for my LGS and candida.

So - for temporary relief while I'm learning how to cure myself, I'm gonna keep using it. It doesn't work right away, though, you have to take it regularly. I stopped for awhile when I felt better, but now with my sugar blues :-( , I've been experiencing a flare up of the candida and the LGS symptoms, so I'm back on it for the time being. Just thought I'd throw my two cents in!

Be well

trish

Thanks, trish.

I did not know this. I hope you will continue to share with us what happens in the future. I know this will be temporary but would like to know how long it continues to help. ANYTHING like this is a valuable way to get symptomatic relief while your causes are being addressed.

Namaste` walt
