No Milk since last Thursday!

Posted by Anita [346.613] on January 27, 2004 at 19:44:28:

Hello all. After a horrible holiday season (I put in 36.5 overtime hours the Christmas and New Years weeks), I have been spending a lot of time at home just babying myself so I have had more time to read the messages here. Three notes this past weekend really caused me to reconsider what I was doing to myself: the note on the dangers of milk, the one concerning microwaves being radiation ovens and the Supersize Me! note about McDonalds. So as a late New Years Resolution, I have given up all three.

I have not had milk since last Thursday and I feel a difference. My head and eyes feel clearer. I can breathe more clearly and don't feel at all congested. I had been taking decongestants and allergey pills daily and have not had any since Thursday. My eyes are not runny or itchy and they are not as cloudy or yellowish as before. I still feel a little headachy at times, but I think that is just the nature of my work. Most people there are headachy most of the time. lol lol

Thanks Dr. Stoll. I am going to stick this out.

Anita

way to go! I gave up milk 20 years ago and lost my arthritis and my yearly bouts with pneumonia.

Congratulations, Anita.

Remember, if dairy is really a problem for you you will not really know until you eliminate ALL dairy (not just the milk) for at least a couple of weeks.

That way you will not be doing more than you need to do for the best effect.

Walt

That makes sense!

It also makes sense that I feel the way I do probably because I also haven't had (incidentally--not because I planned it) cheese which would constitute all "dairy products." I have eaten a couple of eggs over the week, but those are not dairy products. (are they?)

I have almost no congestion in my head now and I had it all the time before. And this is without taking decongestants. I really don't want it to come back either, so I will just stop cheese too.

Thanks...Anita

Thanks ANN and Jayne (nmi)

Well done - and a little note of caution here! I'm not allergic to milk but I gave it up several years ago and went onto soy etc. I developed a real dislike of milk (I used to love it) and have not been able to return to drinking even raw organic milk, which I now want to do! I hate the taste now. I wish I could drink milk as a treat. From your clearing-up it sounds as though you might be allergic and will want to stay off it, but I thought I'd mention my experience in case you don't want to burn your bridges.

I think I tend to have sub-allergies, that is, I can take a small amount of say wheat but as soon as I overdo it I get symptoms... so maybe after a while you'll be able to drink a bit of milk from time to time if you still love it!
