The Actors Anxiety

Dr Stoll,
I was never a shy child, I did not have social anxiety 10 years ago. About 8 years ago I started experimenting with drugs, odd acid trips, then esctasy which I took on and off for some years, the first symptoms I noticed was sweaty palms that led to years later chronic sweating under the armpits, aswell as chronic tmj and oos and generally losing the plot, avoiding places etc.Dizziness is now one of my number one enemies, I meditate regularly sometimes for 3-4 hours at a time, I visit Oesteo, the best goddam psychs I can find, but just when i get rid of one problem the next one comes up just as fast, I know anxiety is this vicious cycle but why are the physical symptoms so severe, I had sweat glands removed from under my arms for the sweating, bit bloody hard being an actor and sweating all day lol,yet of course it returned. I have not taken any drugs for the anxiety and I have gotten better from reading and exposure from doing it on my own,
I feel like my state of mind is perfect,at uni working etc
but these physical symptoms, blurred vision etc
just pop up for months on end. and drag me straight down into the pit.
Would love your advice
thanks minnie

It's my understanding that the abuse of drugs like acid and esctacy can permenantly change brain chemistry. I think it robs the brain's ability to produce proper amounts of seretonin, an important neurotransmitter. Practicing wellness and never doing these drugs ever again, I would think is the only way to help reverse this.

Hi, Minnie.

Listen to Jon. Everything he said is exactly what I would have said.

That said, this still is not likely unresolvable. It just means that you will need to do very serious wellness, probably forever, to prevent slipping back into what you have been experiencing.

In the meantime, you could go to the brain chemistry archives to try to give your brain chemistry a leg up until the wellness can resolve your symptoms (about a year). Remember that we normally only use about 1% of our brain capacity. If you just improve your function by 1% you will have doubled your function. Taking the "Perfect Food" by gardenoflifeusa.com could also help in the beginning.

The first thing, while you are praparing to do this: get your meditation checked by a biofeedback instructor to see if it actually is producing the relaxation response.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
