Is it possible for a drug addict / heavy user of drugs (even if they might not consider themselves addicts) to be a decent human being with consideration for others or is this a hopeless cause? Between dealers and users / addicts there must be dozens or hundreds of these people in even the smallest towns. Thoughts? Mike

Hi Mike,
If an addict will not lie to get his next fix, then there may be hope.
If you have one for a friend, has he ever lied to you to cover his actions?
Did he sell your stereo... or borrow money that mysteriously does not get repaid?

I'd think it would matter if the addict could afford their habit, and how it made them act when on them. If they can manage geting the drugs, and not stealing to get the money, and it didn't make them a bad person, and made them as good or better than if they didn't need and use the drugs, they could be decent. Though things could change.

Mike-S.
Listen to Vince & Ron.
There is plenty of research now showing that even short term use of addictive drugs (including prescription stuff) causes permanent changes in brain chemistry! JUST SAY NO!

Hi Vince,
Just like with alcohol, some people can be self-medicating to control anxiety or some other brain chemical problem.
If Alcohol was a prescription medicine, there would be
a lot of prescriptions written.

There are many things that we self medicate with. When it gets extreme, we need to find help.
