ask a silly question

Posted by jason on November 12, 2000 at 08:17:05:

i've been reading the posts on this board for about three weeks now and i cannot tell you how frustrating it is to see how frivilous the so-called authorities here are with facts and any sort of need to justify their assertions. In certain instances i wonder if they understand just how far they allow the truth to be trampled on, and how abusive and dangerous it can be:

1] i asked a person on this board who has a website devoted to comparing different diets why the diet often recommended here (the hg/ag metabolic typing diet) doesn't seem to have any outside verification-- and didn't that make anybody nervous experimenting on themselves to see what happens. in response i got a note that essentially that "this was just the way it was".

2] somewhere down this page dr.stoll claims that h.pylori "is just another intestinal parasite". doesn't he know that h.pylori is a bacteria, not a parasite, and that it inhabits the stomach not the intestines? or is the distinction not important enough?

3] doc kim posted somewhere below that the "majority of americans are magnesium deficient". when i twice asked him to provide me with a reference, i was just ignored.

there seems to be some very nice people here, but in fairness to the truth, it is a little dangerous thinking you can believe anything on this board at face value. i am pre-med and open to using alternative medicine when i am in practice but as i take leave i ask you to be very careful about what you read here.
