I wish you do a search on my story ...

Posted by Straw on November 14, 2000 at 18:58:45:

Jason,

I chanced upon this site over a year ago by doing a search for flagyl or something. I had been to 4 pediatric neurologists (a couple with additional specialities), 2 behavioral pediatricians, at least 2 psychiatrists & 2 psychologists, a nutritionist, a pediatric gastroenterologist, & many others I cannot even remember right now.

I posted about my son having behavioral problems. That is putting it mildly. He was almost 7 yrs. old.

Because Dr. Stoll was kind enough to spend his time answering my questions (never charged me one cent, and I had spent 10's of 000's) and directing me to the right direction in the way of books, etc. My child is now doing "1000 times better" this year, according to his coach & has not been sent home (from a special needs school, but doesn't take behavior problems.)

My child is NOT perfect. However, my little precious, adopted & prayed for & loved & never abused & only lovingly, consistently parented child will NOW have a very good chance in life.

Gone are the days when the violent rages & biting, hiting, kicking the heck out of me are gone. A combination of a gluten free/casein free diet, supplements, & cooking from scratch foods & eliminating food allergies are healing his body & his brain.

You will no doubt learn in med school that the diets are hogwash & you will learn about prescribing meds to help symptoms. Dr. Stoll taught me how to heal my little boy's body & myself & my husband are also benefiting from this board.

A couple of the very doctors who said this was hogwash cannot deny the difference in my child. They have asked my permission (given) to give out MY name & number to other moms whose children were like my child (he was in therapies, P.T. & O.T. & social skills, etc.) as they "simply have no resource in the medical community for dietary issues".

Now, I'm no doctor and I don't practice medicine. However, I do take time to volunteer my knowledge to other mothers (in a support group on the internet) regarding behavior problems, the gut/brain connection & what can actually make your child violent.

Please do not be too quick to criticize. Dr. Stoll saved my son from a life that could easily been in the criminal justice system, and I feel so blessed that this fine doctor took the time to respond to my first post (when I had never posted to anything before).

There are a couple of rotten apples in every barrel. Please keep reading & thinking about the alternatives. I am a real mom & this is my real story.

Thanks, Straw, for giving this guy a chance.

Congratulations on your child's progress.

Namaste`
