Numbness in breast

Posted by Leanne on October 20, 2001 at 11:25:01:

Dear Dr. Stoll and Others,
I am 32 years old with a previous history of depression (teen years). Because of that, I feel that the doctors sometimes don't take my concerns as seriously as they should. I recently went to my doctor because of a numb feeling in my right breast. It runs from the inside of my right arm muscle and down the top of outside of my right breast. I cannot, nor can the doctor, feel any lumps or other abnormalities. A mammogram showed nothing unusual. I do have pre-menstraul breast tenderness, but that is nothing new. The doctor says there doesn't seem any reason for concern. When my arm brushes or rest against the breast, the breast feels like it's pushing out. It also feels heavier and drooping. I don't know if this makes any sense, but I would appreciate anyone's opinion because I am worried.

Hi, Leanne.

You probably will be mad at me for suggesting the most common cause of a symptom like this. That is probably why your docs have not told you. Honesty always takes a back seat to profit.

Go to the library and and the librarian for a book about "Hysterical Symptoms". Your tendency toward depression powerfully contributes to your present symptom.

When you are ready to actually DO something about this harmless symptom go to the archives about brain chemistry.

I guess that I should not call this "harmless" since it is a gentle warning that you had better do something about your brain chemistry or worse is in your future.

Hope this helps.

Walt
