Hi.. I have a pilonidal sinus opening about a half an inch above my rectum.. but I am wondering have you ever heard of.. or is it possible for..

the cyst tunnel inside to have somehow connected with the colon.. because gas is coming out of the sinus opening.. and I think I have noticed feces today as well. I am almost having a panic attack here at work.. if this is possible I think I need to go to the doctor immediately.

Have you ever heard of this Dr. Walt?

I have heard of it. It can connect to your colon and cause real problems, and it sounds like that's what has happened. Go to www.pilonidal.org -- discussion board with people with same experience.

Hi, Brandon.

You are describing an anal fistula, all of which require surgical correction. A pilonidal sinus CAN cause this but there are many other causes that make up the vast majority of these.

You will need the services of a good Proctologist. Let us hope that this is NOT related to a pilonidal problem.

Let us know what you learn.

do you think I was misdiagnosed?

I saw some pictures of pilonidal cysts and they can go higher up the back even.. mine are near my rectum.

is this not a pilonidal? or are you saying I could have both separately!?

I am going for an appointment with the surgeon monday

Brandon,

In the future, please attach your note to the note to which you are responding. That makes it a lot easier for the respondent to find your response.

Only a microscopic examination of the tissue removed at surgery can tell if this is related to a pilonidal mechanism.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt
