Essential oils information. (Archive in aromatherapy.)

Thanks, Misty.

Essential oils have their effect upon the organism via the olfactory nerve
which is the evolutionary representative of the most direct line to the
brain--the chemotactic sense. The first sense known to have developed in the
first cell is chemotaxis.

This is the main reason why the smell of fresh bread (for example) elicits
such vivid memories; more than visual, auditory, touch or even taste
memories.

Essential oils are powerful modulators of human function.

Namaste`

Walt

A word about incense

Thanks for the informative post. Incense is actually the original aromatherapy. A word of warning though: You have to be very careful when purchasing incense. There is VERY LITTLE incense that is made in the USA that is real incense. Even if the package says "hand rolled" that does'nt mean that is real essential oils, etc. Most all incenses made here ARE synthetic. Probabaly because the cost of extracting the oils is expensive and people really don't want to pay that much for a stick of incense. I trust incenses that are made in India as they use incense as a means of relaxing(for meditation) or actually for healing. Did you know that frankincense & myrrh both have natural expectorants. I use Lavender sticks on my patio when we cook out to keep mosquitos away and eucalyptus when I have a cold. Sandalwood is great for the sinuses. Incense made in India is inexpensive(at least for now) and I would'nt burn anything else.

I'm lucky in that I have a shop and I sell only incense from India. I have been educating people about incense for years. My shop is in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Where are you located?
