I'm a 35 year old massage therapist with scoliosis. I have an "S" curve. The lower curve is approximately 36 degrees and the upper is approximately 40 degrees. A fellow massage therapist introduced me to "Raindrop Therapy" which is a kit of essential oils sold by Young Living. It is a treatment that combines aromatherapy and massage. Young Living describes it as "an application of essential oils, which are applied on various areas of the body to bring structural and electrical alignment." These oils include: thyme, oregano, birch, cypress, pepperment, basil, marjoram and two blends called Valor and Aroma Siez.
I purchased this kit and my husband, who is also a massage therapist, applied it using the technique described in the video. The heat was pretty intense (this was to be expected), but all back pain was gone after the treatment and for 3-4 days thereafter. My husband says that he noticed a slight improvement in my curve.
As a massage therapist with scoliosis, I'm extremely interested in the possibilities of this treatment and was wondering if you could comment on your feelings about it. I have a keen interest in working with scoliosis patients in my practice, particularly children and teens who stand a chance at intervention. I've studied the St. John Neuromuscular technique for scoliosis and was thinking of adding this component as well. I'm not sure how many applications may be necessary? According to the Young Living literature, many patients have experienced almost instantaneous alignment. It seems too good to be true, and I don't want to chase snake oil treatments, but I want to leave no stone unturned in the area of alternative scoliosis treatment. Please advise.
Many Thanks!

Dear Jenny.
In my experience, adding aromatherapy to ANY structural approach for ANYTHING at least doubles the structural technique's effectiveness.
Considering the "bell curve" that exists for the response to any therapy, some people will get "instantaneous" resolution and others will get NO effect. The majority will get the middle of the curve.
As with any therapy, you must become a student of it to have it be most effective. With what you & your husband already do, I have little fear of your neglecting that.
It is a shame, however (I had to learn this way too!), that we have to have a personal experience before believing stuff that is beyond our area of expertise.
Congratulations on making the breakthrough.
NOW, when you have successfully integrated aromatherapy with your structural skills, I hope you will look into more electromagnetic, nutritional, etc., stuff that combined with the massage/aromatherapy approach would fruther expand the effectiveness. My guess is that the next thing that would use this same "highway" would be the use of "Floral Essences" internally. The more approaches successfully integrated, the more magnification of effect.
By the way, have you looked into Craniao-Sacral work for your back?
There is an international teacher of this kind of combining that is a very good friend of mine. She worked with me for years in my center and now travels the world teaching professionals how to do this. I KNOW she would be happy to share her experiences & talents with both of you if you would contact her. If she doesn't get back to you immediately, it means she is in Russia, Japan, Australia, Africa, U.K., etc., and will contact you when she gets back.
Tell her I set you onto her & give her a big internet hug for me. Her address is 74602.1536@compuserve.com. Her name is Terri Lynn Johnson.
Her mentor is Virgil Dodson who founded & still directs the "Well Being Ranch" in Texas. His internet address is
74602.1534@compuserve.com. He, too, is a good friend & would be happy to correspond with you about this. His name is Virgil Dodson. Give him a big internet hug for me too. He mostly stays at the ranch now while Terri Lynn travels the world in his stead. There are many professionals now part of their group who participate in their local workshops and also travel the world teaching.
Virgil was first & Teri Lynn was second in this hierarchy or teaching/learning.
Please let us know what you learn. You will find this newly opened door will lead to a new land of wonder. It will be an exciting time for you.

THANK YOU, WALT!
Aromatherapy is a very effective alternative health modality. I am so gald to see you saying something positive about it. Alex had a UTI which made him totally miserable until he could see his DR. He said, "Can't you make me one of your potions?" I did indeed. He rubbed it on his lower abdomen every 3-4 hours, and he even told the Doc how much it helped until he could see him!
It is the electromagnetic properties of the oils which promote healing and act in the synergistic way with other treatments.
