Dr Stoll,
I wrote to you a while ago about my husband . They said he had scleroderma/crest sydrome. Now we are being told he doesnt have the scleroderma but they are saying he has what is called Pazindromic Rheumatism. I dont know much about this but they say it is very rare and most doctors have never seen it. I cant find any information on it and was wondering if you know about it or you might know a differnt name for it. Iam lost because my husband cant move most of the time. The pain meds (demeral and morphine) are not working. If there is any info you know about could you help me find it. Thanks Kym

Kym,
I checked the Merck Manual for that diagnosis, and found "Nonarticular Rheumatism."
Here is the link for the search function for the Merck Manual, if you want to look for more info.

Hi, Kym.
The diagnostic contortions his docs are performing are just exercises in mental masturbation--in MY opinion. Since all arthritides are caused basically by the same mechanisms, and the different diagnoses are TOTALLY based upon the genetic makeup of the individual, the approach to cure is the same for all of them.
Until we can change the individuals genome, making superfical classifications like this are meaningless--while it DOES make the "doctor" seem smart, it does NOTHING for the the patient.
Questions?
Walt
