Dear Dr. Stoll or Helping You
Do you have suggestions for the inflammation and pain from the joints and muscles I am experiencing. I I have taken Vioxx which works brilliantly but am wary of its side effects. Ibufren is not working sufficently unless I go to 400mg. Additionally, I don't want to take anything that will make or prevent the LGS from healing.
My food diet is very strict (whole foods, distilled water, along with the new flora, etc. but I am waking up with the body of a 150 year old and it doesn't want to move its joints at all.
I just came off a two year course of prednisone and a few days ago completely stopped after taking 1mg. for several weeks. I am aware that the Pred. will mask the arthritic symptoms that have now come to light which would explain the current surge of inflammation, I think?
Would you please help me.
Thank you.

Have you done an elimination diet? Generally, any NSAID drug will harm the gut, and Vioxx and Celebrex are no different. There are also some reports of other health problems coming from these new pain killers.

I am working on that now. Is the diet responsible for the arthritic flare-ups that I am having?
I am on the whole food, organic, with loads of greens and abiding by it faithfully but when the Ibufren wears off am left with aching and swollen muscles and joints.
I'll go back and look at Elimination Diet again in the Archives.
Thanks, Tom,
Kt

Hi kt - I just recently finished the elimination diet, metabolic testing and so forth - I have had RA for 7 years and this has been the most effective and lasting step I have taken. I had to heal my gut (LGS) first and then everything else seems to be falling into place - yes, you will probably have an upsurge in symptoms and pain when you go through the elmination diet (I failed the first time, too painful, then I took l-glutamine for a couple weeks and started again - you can't take the l-gluatmine during the e-diet or testing phase, but I got through them both and now take l-glutamine daily) I take no pain medication, though my nicks and dings come back at times - but ever so much less frequent and painful - I also had damage to my right hand which also seems to be reversing - wild. So, good luck. This is a great site with lots of info and people who will help guide you - best wishes

Hi, kt.
Listen to Rebecca NYC & remember that SR is the single most important thing for you to do.

Everyone has great suggestions. Just to reiterate, SR and the whole foods diet is the most important things you can do. Having said that, let me give you a few more suggestions that may help you tip the scale in your favor. First off, stop the distilled water. It is not a healthy water to use. It does not have benefical properties of healthy water and strips your body of minerals. Use structured water (Pentahydrate, Crystal Energy, ect.) or use Reverse Osmosis water filtered through a carbon block. As far as your whole foods go, eat more foods that have anti-inflammatory effects----fish oil, GRASS-FED beef, vegetables, ginger, herbs such as oregano, cayenne pepper, and so forth. There is a new supplement called FYI that may be of help to you. Read the product info at www.crohns.net. The product is very absorbable and along with the anti-inflammatory diet, it will help take some of the inflammation awat while you do your SR...........Hydrotherapy, rebounding, and exercises in water are excelent for getting circulation to your joints. The less exercise you have, the less blood flow to your joints, and the less healing that takes place. Don't forget that. It's very important. Also, there are joint-healing therapies such as prolotherapy, rolfing, and Neurocranial Restructuring. Lastly, to improve your intestinal flora, you should be on a good quality probiotic

Thank you all for your input. I feel so much more optimistic knowing that other people have had the same experience and are now much better.
More questions!
I am confused about the order I should be doing things.
I have the dysbiosis, RA, candida, and of course the LGS.
So far have been on the PWFD w/no fruit for about 3 weeks.
I have been taking Genestra HMF Powder (acidophilus) and Collagen (prescribed by my Osteopath)for 3 weeks along with Vit C, Flax Seed Oil and Fish Oil.
Am doing gentle yoga, continuoum, and breathing/med every day.
I am drinking Dr. Schultz green food once a day.
When should I notice the RA subsiding?
What is it that actually heals the gut lining?
Should I now be taking the I-Glutamine and Primal Defense (which I will check on with the Osteo)?
And what is the purpose of the I-Glut?
My apologies for bombarding you with these questions but I really feel that I am finally making some headway with your help after so many years of frustration!
P.S. I have been reading the archives for several days now which have been very informative but need a little clarification. (I think it may be the brain-fog).
Thank you again for all your patience. Very much appreciated.
