Hello - I've used this board a great deal to overcome most of my RA - have changed to whole food diet, do SR, exercise, cleanse, use anti-candida products and continue to heal my LGS - over the past year I have elimiated RA from most of my body but still have ongoing damage to my hands and feet - it's like the rest of my body has healed and these are still the weakest points and so the RA (what's left of it) attacks there - one hand is going very crooked and I want to correct it without having to resort to surgery - there is almost no inflamation, so is there anything I can do to disolve the deposits that are continuing to accumulate there? I used to have RA throughout my whole body (spine, jaw, knees, feet hands, shoulders, elbows and wrists, ect.) I have reduced it to these two areas and want to eliminate it altogether - please help me - I've come so far...ps: I'm going to start accupuncture this week and will do it 2 x's monthly (that's all I can afford, no insurance...)
Thank you ever so much.

Unfortionately, there's not much you can do about the RA damage. I too have damage to my wrist and one of my elbows. I've tryed everything but nothing seems to help, the damage is simply battle scars that proves we are a "Survivor". Soaking your hands in hot epsom salts water and trying to push and rub really hard on them might help some. I'm very proud of you my friend and you should be proud of yourself because not many people have what it takes to reverse RA. Who cares if you have a few battle scars, it's your "Heart" that counts and without even knowing you, you have a good Heart!!!! * S.H.A.P.E. *

Congratulations to you on coming so far. I, too, have RA, and gain inspiration from posts like yours. I am just beginning my journey towards health, but now have an optimism I never had before. As to your question...my Rolfer told me that a large percentage of bone is living and therefore changeable...she recommends soaking wool socks in castor oil, and applying to the affected areas daily for 20-30 minutes. This was a recommendation she made for my fused wrists to attempt to "loosen" them up. I have not tried it yet. I don't know, but maybe this could also help your hands. Good luck!

As an RA person, too, I would be very interested to hear just how you went about eliminating your RA. Would you mind telling me the specific steps you took? SO far, I am on a whole foods diet, (trying to) practicing SR, and exercising. I would love to know what helped you. Thanks!

Congratulations, RA!
it is too bad that no one told you how to do this many years before you had permanent damage.
It seems that you may have reached that point of damage.
RA is such a destructive process that, once the joint is destroyed, things cannot rationally be put back together.
I would have to see xrays of your hands & feet to know what to tell you. If the joints are destroyed, there are very successful replacement plastic joints that can be surgically implanted.
As you already have learned: without dealing with the causes this disease is progressive over the years. Just holding your own would have been a miracle by conventional standards. You have done much better than that!

Thank you all for your help - I think I will try the wool socks and castor oil - I may have been unclear about my circumstance - the RA is still affecting my hands and feet, though I seem to have eradicated it from the rest of my body...I can't seem to stop this invasion form my extremities - so I have not yet won the war and the deposits are continuing to mount. Does anyone know what can be done to disolve these depsoits before they harden? I've had them before and they tend to go away, but this onslaught is very intense - perhaps I need to start at the beginning again and do everything once more -
To Maggie: - I did the elimination diet, started SR (centerpointe) and have tried to get rid of candida and heal my LGS. I wonder if the candida is back causing me this havoc. I don't have insurance and though I would like to have used Nystatin and the anti-biotic recommended by another alternative med dr., I have instead used olive leaf, Threelac and undenatured whey to combat the LGS and the virus that is linked to RA. The undenatured whey (immunepro) gives you the highest amount of Glutathione which in turn helps balance out your immune system - I sometimes grieve that if I could only get the nystatin and the antibiotic (after having already moved to a whole foods diet, eliminated sugar and flour and grains of any sort, started SR and working out) that I could kill the thing that's trying to kill me...but, lest you think to bypass the need to change your diet, heal your gut, get rid of candida and take the nystatin and antibiotic alone, I assume one would accomplish little. It's the combination of these that work - hope this helps.

After thinking about it - I feel like I will start all over with the elimination diet and go from there - I think I've read that you were hestitant to do it - what if we did it together? Let me know.

I would love to try the e-diet with you, but unfortunately it's not a possiblity for me right now. With my husband traveling weekly for his job, I am afraid I might become to incapacitated to care for my 1 and 2 1/2 year old children. So, instead I stay with a whole foods diet minus sugar and most grains (I eat a little brown rice). I do have quite inflammed fingers, wrists, and one elbow right now. We are also facing the dilemna that we'd like one more child before we finish our family, and with my age at 34 1/2 I am fearing too much delay in that would create additional risk. The good news is, I go totally into a remission while pregnant and for approx. a year of breastfeeding. Still, I am conflicted about making this step now, as I realize I am just now learning so much about ways to combat RA, and for the first time feel optimistic about the future. I suppose that optimism is why I am interested in growing our family! So, I am personally struggling with the decision to go ahead and try to get pregnant for the last time, or to postpone that despite my age and focus on beating this RA for the next year or so, possibly abandoning our dream of a 3rd child. I appreciate the info. on your protocol, I am keeping all this info. for future use, when I am able to proceed with it. I am meeting with a wonderful holistic dr. here in November that I am also hoping may be of some assistance. I understand he has had much success with automimmune disease. Thanks again, and good luck! If you have anymore thoughts, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks, RA.
It seems to me that you still do not understand how basic SR is for succeeding with this condition. Remember, the basic rule is that the very thing that the person needs to do the most is usually the last thing they will do. I am surprised that you have gotten this far without a reliable and continuous SR.
You have lots of company. Most people will not do SR. If you want more proof, of how effective SR is for influencing the immune system, look at page 141 of the Science News, August 30th issue 2003. (Volume 164).
Let us know what you learn and how you do.
