I am working diligently on the 3 legged stool as well as getting care from a holistic dr., rolfing, acupuncturist, and lots of supplements. Still, the pain is excruciating, and it is easy for me to get very down about it and feel hopeless. I'm really having that kind of week, and could use some good old testimonials from folks who have overcome arthritis/RA/autoimmune issues. How you did it and how long it took. Thanks-

Hi Maggie,
Here's a link to a website from a previous BB participant who recovered from RA.
BTW, he recently said it's real important to keep up doing the SR.
Best wishes,
Jan DeCourtney, CMT

Hi Maggie,
I've heard that JMT is good at resolving RA problems. I've posted a link below to where you can find a practitioner. You might want to read the testimonials and look into it.
My naturopath successfully used this technique on me for something else. It looks flakey, but in fact it worked very well. I know she's had a lot of success with it for people with RA too.
Take Care,
Daisy

Thanks for posting this, HappyGal. I just read the story at that site and it's amazing!

Hi Maggie,
I was thinking of something along the same lines as Daisy suggested. That technique she posted about looks very promising.
Since you've tried so many different things to fix a physical problem and have not hit on the right thing or combo, maybe it's time to look at emotional issues. I've been in the same boat with my fibromyalgia, and finally realized that most of what I have going on is fallout from past emotional traumas and childhood/lifelong issues.
Have you read anything by Louise Hay on physical and emotional connections of illness? I keep her little blue book "Heal Your Body" handy.
Here's what she says about rheumatoid arthritis...
Probable Cause: Deep criticism of authority. Feeling very put upon.
New Thought Pattern: I am my own authority. I love and approve of myself. Life is good. [Use the new thought pattern as an affirmation.]
You don't have to answer here, but does that churn up anything for you? Just something to think about. You probably have many issues and many layers of healing to be done. We all seem to, especially people with chronic health problems.
Wishing you the best,
Nutmeg

my arthritis disappeared after 11 years when I gave up dairy products. I happened to give up sugar at the same time and thought that was what made the difference, but I read an article later in the magazine Good Medicine that said dairy was a major problem for arthritis.
Also, avoid nightshades- potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers.
For immune roblems, in general, look for other fod intolerances- blood allergy testing is good for this. If you can't afford that, try Peter D'Adamo's book, eat right for your type and see the food lists for your blood type- it'll give you guidelines for foods to avoid and those to emphasise.

Folks have seen the benefits from within a week to within 6 months. I think I've progressed pretty well along the bell curve Dr Stoll mentions. Nowadays I don't react to a lot of foods I used to before. I can say at this point, if I'm strict in following the blood type diet, I'm relatively safe !
My supplements are Mag glycinate, Ester-C, glucosamine/chondroitin & some anti-fungal medications. I use permavite/glutamine for rebuilding the gut.
Have you seen any improvement(even a little) at all since the ediet 3 months ago?

that I feel the root of my health problems is emotional, as I've really not had tremendous emotional trauma or anything in my life. But, it is something I'm open to thinking about, for I believe having a chronic disease brings a lot of emotions to the surface, so there's definitely a lot there to consider. Thanks for the thoughts...

do the blood food allergy testing. I also have been following the blood type diet. I have to remind myself this could take a while, and I'm prepared for that...but meanwhile the pain is excrutiating, so it can become hard to bear. I'm doing my best though, and determined!

seen any improvement. I think that's why I am starting to feel depressed and frustrated. I know I am doing the right things, and do feel empowered my the control I have been taking of my health. But, meanwhile, the pain is so hard to bear on a daily basis. I'm trying to hang in there, it's not easy.

You are welcome.
Perhaps, you should try to apply EFT to your symptoms and, possibly, root causes. It has been reported to be very effective and fast for some people (virtually all people, when done by very good practitioners)... sometimes bringing practically instantaneous improvements. If you are not familiar with EFT, peruse

Hi Maggie,
I'm so sorry you're not seeing rapid improvement with all your effort, and I absolutely do know how you feel -- it's completely miserable to be in so much pain and trying to take care of yourself & your family.
You said you're working diligently on the 3LS, but I've not read much from you regarding the type of SR you do. Are you practicing regularly? For me, the diet/exercise DID help my symptoms, but I believe the SR (in the long run) has been the most beneficial. Good luck, and I hope you find some relief quickly.

I have had the most trouble with SR, in terms of changing "modes" in the middle of the day or not falling asleep! I have been using the workbook recommended on this site, and have found the breathing exercises most beneficial to me. I try to practice at least once a day, and aim for twice. Also, I took a mindfulness based stress reduction class recently. I am about to begin some yoga, as another way to carve out some quiet time for myself. I enoy the yoga the most, because I am just more of a physical person, and tend to benefit from some movement, rather than still meditation. Will this provide the same health benefits?

Hi Maggie,
I started with breathing & yoga, too. I think Dr. Stoll has said that you do get some of the same SR benefits with yoga (in addition to the stretching, which is really great), but it probably won't help you heal as quickly (so not as MUCH benefit) as "concentrated" (for lack of a better word) SR. Any little bit of time you can get for yourself has GOT to be good -- really try for 20 minutes 2X a day. Let us know how it's going. . .
