Aspartame

Posted by Wanting to know on March 27, 2002 at 22:23:21:

Can someone have a hypersensitivity to aspartame? I gave up regular sodas because I found I was hypersensitive to the corn syrup in it, which caused joint immflamation. I also used to crave it like a drug. Now I'm beginning to crave diet sodas, which I have substituted. I'm wondering if the aspartame in them may now be problematic for me. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Diet sodas will indeed cause you a myriad of problems, especially if they are sweetened with NutriSweet.

The link below will give you some great information about this sugar substitute and how harmful it actually is.

Sodas, diet or regular, have no nutritional value and no place in a healthy diet and lifestyle. They can be very harmful. For starters, check out the link below. If you go to the main site (www.mercola.com) at the link and search on 'soda' you will find quite a few more eye openers.

It might be hard to quit, but you will be doing yourself a huge favor.

The promulgation of aspartame in our society is just plain evil. I use Stevia if I need a sweetner. It's natural. Also, I haven't had a soda pop in a year and don't miss it at all.

My mother, a constant "dieter" for about 25 years, started with saccharin, and then switched to nutrasweet. She used a couple of packets in her tea, a couple on her cereal, a couple on her fruit, etc. every day until a few months ago. She also drank diet soda because it was recommended by her so called diets (I would love to name one national weight loss program touted by former royalty, and another taught via churches)

Let me briefly describe her health now:

Totally deaf in one ear and 50% hearing in the other, dizziness, vertigo, balance problems, decreased mental capacity (like alzheimers, yet she doesn't have the actual disease), depression, diabetic, degenerative spine disease and arthritis (where did all that so called calcium go that she has taken for years!)etc. etc.

I read a website on health problems associated with nutrisweet and my mother has suffered many of the adverse affects that were noted. Her stance was that since the FDA approved it, it was ok

I constantly see little children drinking diet sodas, and the mass commercialization of how healthy the sodas are cover the television ads and other media outlets.

Evil is right, and unlawful comes to mind as well. I believe items with this sugar substitute should have a warning label. After all, the purpose of the FDA is to safeguard the public, right?

Thank you for posting that-it's a great example of what I was trying to convey. The deception, the lies, and by an organization that is supposed to protect us, as you so wonderfully stated.

This SOMETIMES makes me wonder if Thomas Jefferson was right..about that revolution every 200 years thing. It's just that the corruption is so rampant and so deep. It's awful, and, yes, evil.
Thanks!
