HI, my daughter has been sick for a while now at least a month with respatory problems asthma etc. She went to the doctor last wednesday the 2nd and he prescribed to her a round of prednisone. And to be taken all the time advair and singular and the nebulizer treatment, well she didnt get any better so I took her back in as she was still wheezing coughing (caused by wheezing) and just feeling sick .So he did a exray and said she had bronchitis, severe in the right lung so now she is on all I mentioned and a zpack of antibiotics and cough medicine. Well she did get better but still is wheezing a little even after the breathing treatments. So yesterday I brought her back in and he prescribed another round of prednisone.. My question is how safe if this to give her and do I have to give it to her. Is it in the long run help her lungs. I have heard some bad stuff about prednisone...she is a asthmatic just when she goes out side and its cold and when she gets a cold and runs sometime... any information would help by the way my daughter is 13 and she is really complaining about a headache and a stomach ache.. (I wonder why) am I doing the right thing???

Hi Ann,
Good that she is on the Zpak.
Here is an article that explains how you mightbe able to help her with the cold and exercise induced asthma...

I believe you're doing the right thing, Ann. My daughter had this kind of thing going on since she was very tiny. Any cold or virus would cause Bronchitis and if we didn't catch it right away and start her on an antibiotic, she would develop Pneumonia practically over night. When she was eight, we finally were able to strengthen her immune system enough so that these things stopped developing. She doesn't need inhalers anymore and hasn't needed an antibiotic in eons. Feel free to e-mail if you like.

Ann,
When things get to this stage you have little choice but to do what you are doing. Many of your options are fading fast.
It is long past time for you to begin to deal with the causwes of this condition. See the allergy archives and the asthma archives & let us know what you learn.
100% sure that this is based mainly in LGS and probably candida as an extension of that basic condition. Until the LGS is dealt with this is as good as it gets.
Her doc is faithfully following the allopathic monopoly's gospel by closing his eyes to the advances in the field for the past 20 years. In my opinion, the only believable explanation for that arrogance is the Tolstoy Effect (search engine).
It will be a lot of work for you both to learn this stuff but you are not likely going to survive continuing on the path that has lead you here.
Walt

Check out "Inflammation Nation" by Chilton. Great book on controlling inflammation using the proper balance of Omega 3 and 6s, and changing your diet to decrease the likelihood of inflammatory response, including asthma.

I have had asthma since I was six weeks old. I have been hospitalized with it at times and have had to go to the ER from it at times. Cold-induced and excercise-induced were both problems for me. I used Azmacort and Intal daily for years yet would still need albuterol as well as an occasional round of prednisone when I got an upper respriatory infection.
Then I gave up all dairy and eggs. (I was already an ovo-lacto vegetarian.) The difference is unbelievable. In the almost three years since I quit dairy and eggs I have not had a single asthma attack. Not even close. I have stopped all medications. I excercise, even walk outdoors in the winter with no truobles. I did have to take an Allegra summer before last when I stayed in a vacation place with a flower arrangement that contained a rag-weed relative. I threw out the flowers and took an Allegra and I fully expected it to start wheezing but never did. Please, please try this diet change with your daughter. I feel like a normal person for the first time in my life.

Wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.I have and most of my friends has a problem with their regular doctor's. We will take them to Egleston or Scottish rite. These hospitals are strictly for kids, and second opinions. GOOD LUCK!!
