Hi Walt,
There are some folks on the autism message boards talking about their dental amalgam (mercury) fillings and how they feel this toxin in their systems is related to their having an autistic child (passed the mercury toxins to the child in utero and through breast feeding). Some of them are speaking about having had chelation for themselves, and I got to thinking about chelation for the autistic child.
I have a LOT of mercury fillings (don't know whether or not to get them replaced), and perhaps it has played a part in my youngest son's autism. Is IV chelation a possibility for this age, and would you recommend my looking into it further?
At any rate, maybe my whole family needs chelation...

Hi, KMD.
If I had an autistic child I would IMMEDIATELY get copies of the past year of Functional Medicine Update's monthly service (tapes and printed reviews of those tapes). ESPECIALLY pay attention to the September, 1999 and February, 2000 reports. Call (800) 843-9660 for information about cost and how to get them.
I see no benefit from chelation without your having that information to think about first.
Namaste`
Walt
