DR. STOLL, WITH ALL WE'RE HEARING NOW ABOUT THE RISE AND PREVALENCE OF AUTISM, NO-ONE SEEMS TO HAVE THE ANSWER ABOUT WHY??????? DO YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS? WHAT DO YOU THINK IS CAUSING THIS RISE? I'VE HEARD SOME TALK ABOUT CHILDHOOD VACCINES MAY BE ONE OF THE CAUSES. I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP AND THOUGHTS. THANKS.

Hi georgia,
The current thought is that a preservative in childhood vaccines is the cause of autism.
reasons:
1. no reported cases of autism prior to vaccinations
2. no autism in communities (i.e. Amish)that don't get vaccinated.
I don't know of any other reasons but you can do a google search for vaccination autism lawsuits and you might find some information.

Many diseases are on the rise. Cancer, heart disease and others. I have read that the poor diet that children and adults eat is a big factor. We are living longer because of all the new drugs, but are getting diseases earlier.

I heard, just yesterday (on the national news) that the incidence was now 1 in 50. UNHEARD OF!
Holistic Practitioners have been predicting stuff like this for at least 30 years, now, and here it comes. It is apparent that "something(s)" in the environment is causing this since evolution of the species CANNOT work this fast. Since the diet is the easiest thing to alter, that is where I would start.
Mother should be on at least omega 3s even before conception and generally follow the whole foods recomended in Dr Ariola's classic "every Woman's Book" starting at least 2 years before conception (both partners in the production of the conception). Then the child needs to be on the PWFD, while avoiding dairy and wheat, at least for the first 10 years of it's life.
Hopefully the allopathic profession will have caught up by then as to how to pinpoint the specific causes of autism. If they do not, eventually, we ALL will be autistic--in my opinion.
Avoiding as many environmental toxic products as possible will also help but this is much harder to do.

It seems that the environmental toxic product that has been at the base of the dramatically increasing autism epidemic is the toxic metals that have been used in vaccines (i.e. mercury, aluminum etc.).

But we have so polluted out environment that it is really impossible to avoid this stuff. At this point, all I can see to do is improve our immunity to resist the toxic effects.

Could it be that the less-healthy of us are more able to reproduce and science takes better care of the offspring
which would not have survived 80 years ago?..
These children may simply be surviving in spite of
their genetic weaknesses and presenting with chronic
conditions instead of being miscarried or dying soon after birth.
