I read your article about constipation. My son is 7 years
old and is autistic. Our doctor has put him on Lactulose
/ krystolos. Which he does take, but does not seem to work, we still resort to suppository every 10 days, but now problem are getting worse and we had an x-ray done to see
just how impacted he was, which he was very sever, we were
sent home to do an enema, which made him have a fairly good b.m., but I still do not think he is completely cleaned out. Debating whether to do another one. Once cleaned out I'm not sure whether to keep him on the lactulose or not.
We have tried the mineral oil in the past w/no luck, but
not at the same time as metamucil. Metamucil he will not
drink though. So I'm wondering I found a Fiber Juice it is called "Fiber EAze" it mixes really well it is already a liquid so there is no grit. I believe it contains 4 grams of fiber a serving. Would something like that work instead of metamucil?
What is the difference between Lactulose and Mineral Oil? From what I've read it seems they work about the same?
Also FG Syndrome is a small possibility w/my son, which I do not believe he has it, but one genetic doctor truly believes he does. Constipation is pretty much is what is putting him in that category. I've read alot of kids w/FG syndrome, have a common muscle problem in the rectum, where they have to go in and like stitch up the muscle to get it to work. Now, my GI doctor does not think he has FG, that he is just withholding, but how/when do you know when to check a little deeper and see if there is more physically wrong causing the problem. He has had no GI tests done at all.

just a long shot, but are you certain he doesnt have an anal fissure?( a small , but painful tear in the anus membrane) a lot of kids get these and its hurts so bad when they go they they hold everything in.i had a friend who's kid had the same problem as yours( he had a learning disability and couldnt communicate well)and i mentioned the fissure theory to them and low and behold that was the problem, when they cleared up the fissure the kid was fine.

I'm not a doctor but an ecological kinesiologist and an intuitive;
First of all if i were you i would look into his diet, food allergy certainly can be the total cause of this; Also remmber not to have him eat a lot of refined foods-white flour, white rice,sugar, nor excess of milk, meat or fried foods, nor overeating; Make sure he drinks plenty of water also, so not to be dehydrated.Don't have him eat under stress; Figs and prunes are nice if he can handle them o.k.;
Honey get to the cause of the constipation is the key, perhaps go to an allergist, or call myself or our wellness ranch and get an ecological testing with kinesiology to find what might be off; Well Being Ranch-1800-800-0432;

I do not know much about FG Syndrome. I do know it is
a genetic disorder. It has something to do w/the X chromosome. There is at this time no actual test for it. They diagnois by looking for common traits. What's bizzare
is you only need one trait. My son is autistic and has
severe constipation. Constipation is a trait of FG syndrome.
It's bizzare, you know how many autistic have constipation problems? Also some of the other traits is a high and uplift hairline, pointed finger tips, others are very specific like large ears and genitials. I have only found
one site on FG but is is a good one if you are interested.
I do not remember the address but I just did a search for
FG syndrome, I believe i was on a MSA search engine.
My son really only has consiptation but his hair grew in funny when he was little, so they think he is highly possible that he is FG. I on the other hand just think
he's autistic and has a very hard time going to the bathroom

Hi, Cheryl.
There is finally no question that some forms of Autism are directly related to LGS. In MY estimation, LGS will eventually be found to contribute to ALL forms of autism.
There are a number of other factors that are now known to be related and, if it were MY child, I would learn about all of them (including the resources for keeping my finger on the pulse of this rapidly developing field) & apply as many as I could reasonably apply.
I have tried to do this with the archives on this 'site. What did you learn from them?

Info-collected;
In studies of autistic children, a significant number have been found to have gastrointestinal disorders, including celiac disease and other food intolerances. Supplementation with Vit b6 and magnesium can sometimes produce good results in austistic children and adults they have found; In addition there is often dramatic improvement after chemical additives and allergenic foods are eliminated from the diet; Eating a lot of raw foods is very good and for protein beans or fish if child can break it down well-tofu or white turkey-ect; Avoid junk foods and sugar and processed foods and off luncheon meats if on ect, Off wheat and more on rice; Try to improve oxygen to the brain with deep breathin exercise-on mini trampoline-show child to breath and blow as he bounces some; I know you will research this more;
