Hi Dr. Stoll. I had written to you on June 21st about all the problems that I had been having with my knee. You asked me to write back and let you know how things went with the Orthopedic Surgeon. Well, this is what I have: Arthritis, bone spurs (2), Bakers Cyst, torn ligament (major), and possibly a meniscus tear. They are ordering an MRI to get a better look. He also said that he would not recommend total knee replacement because he did not feel it was bad enough. He said that he would like to try to repair the meniscus tear, bakers cyst, and bone spurs first, followed by medication, injected drugs, and therapy. But then he also said that it would only be a percentage of a chance that it would take care of my problem and that I would have to be very careful with it especially bending and twisting, which is basically 100% of my life. Then later on I may still have to have the knee replaced anyhow. So far it pretty much sounds like he will leave it up to me as to what I want to do. I want 100% of my life back and why would you keep adding engine oil without fixing the leak. Sooner or later you will have to fix the leak. Thank-you so much for your input. I appreciate it.

Dawn

Thanks, Dawn.

Sounds like you have a pretty good OS. With what you have, you are not going to have back "100% of your function" no matter what you do.

I would start at least 3 times a week underwater exercises, 740 milligrams of glucosamine sulphate twice a day and at least 2000 milligrams of omega 3s twice a day along with what your OS is recommending.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
