Baker's Cyst

Dear Dr. Stoll,

Over 20 yrs. ago,(I'm now in my 40's) I was diagnosed with Bakers Knee. My question is, is it the same as Bakers Cyst, or did my doctor just phrase it loosly. Since that time I have tolerated stiff knees, hardly able to walk at first in the morning, popping/grinding knee caps when I bend down, unstable knee caps, ie. the feeling that my knee cap moved to the side and I was about to fall forward, hyperextending my knee. The jobs I've had over those years were just the opposite of what I should've had, all involved walking on hard and or uneven surfaces, constant bending and kneeling not to mention the stress I put myself through trying to maintain a weekend warrior physique for all sports involving a ball and or running. The past 4 yrs. I cut way back on most of those activities and took up fishing, but now I want to get back into some activities. I'm really paying the price now, I feel twice my age. Any suggestions for stretching, vitamins, exercise to get back into the swing.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi, P.

Your doc was just speaking loosely. That long ago docs were just starting to understand the absolute connection of Baker's to progressive arthritis.

For now, you need to immediately start taking at least glucosamine sulphate (750 milligrams twice a day) and the EFAs described on the home page. Next you need to read the archives about arthritis and start serious SR. Finally an underwater exercise progran is essential.

Let us know what you learn and how you do. Without at least this much healing treatment, "This is as good as it gets!" It is probably too late to get everything back but you will have very significant improvement. Any doc who has not already recommended all this is not someone you need to be paying for advice!

Walt
