Dear Doctor,
I was diagnosed with baker's cyst a year ago. The pain behind my left knee and stiffness resulting in problems with kneeling and inability to crouch has been with me for about 2 years.
For the past month i have received physical therapy in the form of ultrasound, cold and hot packs and exercise. But the effect seems temporary overall.
My GP says he hopes it will go away. I do too, but realistically what is the best treatment long term.
What situation other than a tear would indicate another x-ray or MRI?
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
kevin Whalen

The best place to start here is in our Bakers Cyst archives (linked below) specifically the link to the thread in which Dr Stoll goes into some detail on what causes Bakers Cyst, and treatment options. It is probably best to start with that.

Hi, Kevin.
First, you need to learn more about Baker's Cysts than your doc apparently knows. That way, he will not be able to "snow" you from his position of power.
Start by going to the archives link I have prapared for you below. Spend a few hours.
THEN, if you still have questions, write again.
