You should go see a doctor who is a specialist on this area your family dr. is more than likely not infromed enough to give u a complete diagnosis

Hi, Judy.

If you have spent much time on the archives about this, you know that your "rupture" has acomplished exactly what any doc would have done by "lancing" it. Unfortunately, this is of only temnporary benefit and you WILL have another flareup.

All of the preventive hints (especially the ones about the donut and hot soaks) will help you control this but you will repeatedly be given the choice of the 50% crap shoot that is the try at definitive surgery.

Hi, Judy.

Use your medical dictionary.

The popliteal space is behind the knee and the pilonidal area is at the tip of the tailbone.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, Judy.

I think I now see what you are saying. The spelling confused me. I still do not know whether she was referring to was a popliteal or a pilonidal cyst. Rupture of a pilonidal cyst is much more likely to have blood in it even though it is not unheard of for there to be blood in a Popliteal (Baker's) Cyst.

Hi, Judy.

Everything on the website about a Baker's Cyst is true about what your doc is calling a popliteal cyst. We docs just like to keep our patients humble by changing the names of things once in a while.

IF, after you have read about Baker's, you have more questions, write again. The answer to your question is "sometimes but no guarantees". You need to understand what you have to understand why I am saying that.

Hope this helps.

Walt
