Baker's Cyst in 3 yr old. Question.

I took my son to the doctor today with a lump at the back of the knee and was told it was probally a baker's cyst. Is it common for such a young child to get something like this? Does it mean he will have arthritic problems with this knee? Can the cyst be caused from injury? Last summer i took him to the Dr. for a limp in the same leg but we ( the parents ) knew of no injury. They said he probally pulled something. ANd eventually ( many weeks ) the limp did go away but no we have this. The cyst at current causes the child ( a boy ) no pain at all. The DR. said they dont drain them nor do they operate on this if they are not causing a problem. But yet reading here on the boards leads me to believe there is " another " problem with knee. That the cyst is sort of like a symptom to something else. Is that correct. Maybe i did not take the information i read correctly. Is there another place/Dr. i should take my son to beside his pediatrician? Should i ask for a referal? The doctor today measured it etc. and we are supposed to go back in six weeks to see if it has grown or if there is any pain noticable etc. If not his plan is to leave it alone unless it poses a problem. Which i guess seems ok. Now that i am aware its there i will be watching it closely. He says it will never go away. But now that i have read here i am concerned there is something else wrong with his knee joint. Any information you could leave for me or email me would be very helpful. I thank you in advance for your time.
