Baker's Cyst

When I was in my twenties, I developed a baker's cyst behind my knees. At the time, I jogged up to 5 miles almost daily. The cyst developed during a week's vacation when I did not run. The doctor I saw reported to me that he also got the cysts anytime he stopped doing his regular Karate routine. He recommended that I continue running and the cyst would go away, which it did. I am in my late forties now and occassionally have the swelling behind my knees which I call a baker's cyst. I typically can pinpoint it to exercise or a break in my routine. Have I been just lucky so far?

Hi, Susan,

You need to read all of the entries in the archives about this condition. The Baker's is just a warning of more serious problems going on inside the knee.

Hi, Lynn.

I was so astounded with your comment, I went to the Baker's cyst archives to see for myself. Other than a minor link that is inoperative, for some reason ( I notified my son, Bill, the administrator of the 'site), which will be corrected.

However, all of the notes I have meticulously gleaned from the many hundreds of notes about this condition are there.

The reason we even have archives is so that I do not have to repeat everything I say to each person who needs the information. There are millions of you out there and only one of me. That means that each individual who is suffering has to take the time to use the information already available and THEN, if they need more, ask.

What DID you learn from all of your reading? By now, you should be more of an expert in this condition than most of the docs you have paid to tell you.

Walt
