I have reviewed the postings and read your fine article. I am a 63 year old female with non-painful arthritis in my back and somewhat painful arthritis in my knees.Bracing is cited as a cause of Baker's Cyst. I am not aware of being in fight or flight mode. I do not jog although I have walked steep paths for several years. Until I fell on my knee I had limited but noticiable pain in both knees. Now an MRI shows Baker's cyst.
While I am not aware of bracing,I am subject to frequesnt (several times a night) leg cramps, particularly in calf. Could this result in the reduction of circulation and have the same effect or be bracing? (Perhaps there is bracing involved as well that I am not aware of).

Hi, Kay.
Rest assured with the diagnoses you have shared with us: You ARE bracing!
People who are bracing NEVER can feel it until it is brought to their attention and they start dealing with it. I, personally, am a perfect example. After all, that is the "purpose" of bracing: to keep the incredible stress-effect storage out of the conscious mind.
Bracing and its painful sequelae are MUCH less uncomfortable than directly experiencing the stress.
Think about it and then become an expert in the field.
Let us know what you learn.
