Dear Alice,

They may feel better but anything that increases the pressure inside the joint makes this problem worse over time.

Dear Kim,

A serious wellness program would do her the most good and the part that would do the most good by itself would be the skilled relaxation. Remember, of the 3 components everyone agrees on, each magnifies the benefits of the others. One gets at least 9 times as much good from 3 things than only 1.

I would also find a good Chiroptactor and consider stuff like Rolfing. Once a Baker's gets large enough the individual will probably have to have it surgically removed but at least they can prevent a recurrence with the above. If you do not hear from Doc Dave soon, write again with his name in the title to draw his attention.

Your comments re baker's cyst are about the most uninformative I have ever seen. What kind of surgery? What kind of treatment for arthritus? WHO has had success treating this?
I too have a cyst behind the knee. Drainage helps for awhile. Is there an athroscopic remedy? Would it be better to amputate? What kind of surgeon should one see? Is there an alternative site for info?
This search on excite is very frustrating. It only gve me 4000+ sites to search!

James,

You have probably happened onto this bulletin board through some search engine. If you click on the "Ask Dr. Stoll" link above or below, you will have access to the whole site. Dr. Stoll has written often on the subjects of surgery and arthritis, and obviously he can't repeat all of it each time. That may be why his answer seems inadequate to you.

Baker's Cysts are not a frequent subject on this board, but they have been discussed. The underlying causes for your problem are the same ones at the root of many chronic disease processes.

You have landed at a good site to educate yourself on alternative healing practices. I don't know of another site where you can communicate directly with a doctor (who provides this service free). I'm not the doc, just a participant here. I don't know if your cyst can be resomved without surgery, but you will find that Dr. Stoll will probably tell you that it is just one of the signs the body gives that something's not right. It would be helpful to him if you could include more information about your state of health, any other problems you may be having, maybe a little history. There is a two day lapse between your post and your answer. In the meantime, look over the whole site.

Hope this helps,

Jim

PS Lose the attitude.
