hey dr stoll i just wanna say that i love ur archives. i have learned so much from them. i did SR and my acne went away! anyways there is a history of baldness in my family (my dad, my brother, and both of my granfathers) i read ur messages about scalp massaging. but i was wondering besides that is there anything else i can do? i feel the baldness thing coming my way. when showering i can see a few hairs coming out the front of my head but not the back. i dont know if i am just paranoid or what...isnt on supposed to lose 50-100 hairs a day? when i getnly tug at my hair i see a few hairs come out once in a while. and in the front is where all my relatives got bald. i jsut turned 18 but i am not surprised. is propecia helpful? how long can u take it for. i knowm ur against taking pills to stop things from happening (that door bell analogy was very good) but i jsut dont know what to do. thanx i think u are the greatest doctor

Thanks, John.

The most effective approach to familial baldness, in my experience, has been stress reduction via serious SR. If you have been practicing it at least twice a day, be sure to keep it up.

Added to that is a whole foods diet (to provide the many trace nutrients hair follicles need to grow hair AND at least 4000 milligrams of esterified vitamin C a day and 1000 units of natural vitamin E a day.

See the essential oils in the article on the homepage for this 'site and do them for about 6 months. Let us know how your hair is doing at that point before changing anything.

Hi, John.

Certainly, eliminating the scalp muscle bracing and the DHT would help as well. However, one of the reasons for the level of doage of antioxidents and essential oils is so at least some will still get through.

John,

I know that you have little time for MORE reading but you realy need to gather more knowledge so you understand better about this stuff. You must, eventually, stop listening to me and know for yourself. I am telling you what I would do with 21 years of school, 30 years of practice and more than 25 years of personal experience with MY own health.

The astronauts have been on more than 3000 units of vitamin E (daily) for the past 30 years. How much more is classified information. There has, as yet, to be any untoward effects of that dose.

When you already have a problem (baldness) youu need to do more with some nutrients than just what you can get in the diet. This is the difference beween nutritional levels and pharmacological levels of a nutrient. Once the problem is resolved, frequently nutritional levels are enough to prevent recurrence.

Walt
