I was wondering if anyone has used Biodots during skilled relaxation and if they are effective in indicating the depth of relaxation. Diodots are little dots placed on the web between thumb and finger which indicate the temperature of the skin by changing color-sort of like the old mood rings. I used them many years ago and they were pretty accurate at telling me when I was stressed or relaxed but I never used them during meditation, which I practiced hit and miss, then. They always turned black (very stressed) when I drove up to my house full of little kids. Thanks for any info. Helen

Hi, Helen.
Biodots are surprisingly accurate. However, they have the same problems that expensive biofeedback temperature trainers have: they take too long to reflect the brain rhythms producing the relaxation response. I have recommended the GSR mainly because its feedback is almost instantaneous with the relaxation response.
It helps to know immediately when you are doing the right thing.

Thanks, Walt, For your answer. I guess I could still use the Biodots to gauge stress when not doing skilled relaxation. Thanks also for this BB. I am learning a lot from this web site and recommend it to others. Also, I have been giving your book to others to read. You and Bob and Dave are providing a great service. Thanks Again. Helen
