Thoughtstream with mental games software

Posted by Aaron on May 06, 2003 at 12:06:13:

Could somebody that owns this device please tell me if it is a good biofeedback device to use. I am serious about SR and I need to get a device that will both help me train to relax and give me at accurate biofeedback.

Thank You.

Aaron,

I have got one about 2 years ago and I like it for what it does. Considering that I never tried an other GSR, it's hard for me to give a comparative evaluation, but overall I think that you probably cannot find something better for this price range. It's a good device.

The only weak point is the sensor. you have to install it inside your hand (the device will not work with the sensor somewhere else) and you can't move your hand because the reading is largely influenced. Also, on the long run, the metal pads of the sensor corrode and the results become differents. I regularly rub them with a 600 grit sandpaper to refresh them. It would have been better if they were gold plated.

The weak point with all GSR devices is that you never know if you really reach the relaxation response. It will only tell you that your skin resistance is changing and in what direction. I have made very long searches on the net and ask many questions here and never got any usefull answers on how you can use it efficiently and what kind of results you should reach or expect. I could not find any biofeedback practitionner 500 miles around where I live (they are as rare as Pape shit), then I have never been able to verify if I was reaching the alpha-theta state and at what skin resistance it would match. After a while, I lost interest of using it.

Good luck

Serge

Thanks, Serge C.

I have used a biofeedback technician and GSRs, clinically, for 20 years successfully to determine whether an individual's SR technique was working. We also had the brain wave machine, the muscle biofeedback machine and the temperature biofeedback machine. After a year we settled on the GSR and left the rest moulder on the shelf. If you are convinced that your technique is working (you will only know for sure after you have practiced for 6 months and have, or do not have, results), let us know what you have learned.

Walt,

From your answer, I understand that you don't remember me again. We have discusced my case a few times.

I have practiced for more than 2 years and I don't have results. I have even been tested with the mannitol/Lactulose test recently and my gut is still leaky.

I don't know what to think now.

Probably, I was not reaching the relaxation response

or

SR doesn't work for me.

or

I accumulate stress faster than I can evacuate it with SR.

or

Something else (candida and/or parasites) is damaging my gut, or prevent my gut from healing, even without bracing from stress.

My feeling is that my stress is auto-generated from inside. It's not physical, it's psychological. I will try to explore in this direction for the following months. However, I don't really believe in standard conselling, I want to find a practitionner above standard who could do some hypnotic regressions with me. I want to resolve that question in a few months, not a few years.

I really need also to push more on the exercise side.

I will make an other new post and will give my complete test results soon. For now I am tired, I had a big weekend.

Serge

Thanks, Serge C.

Did you check out your SR with biofeedback?
