Dr. Stoll
Would you mind explaining the "machine" from Radio
Shack I keep reading about for help with SR.
Is it any good? How do you use it?

Thanks for your time

Steve

Dear Steve & Wendy,

I, personally, do not think the Radio Shack GSR is sensitive enough to learn a reliable SR with. I have seen some people do so but believe that it is MUCH easier to learn with a more sensitive machine.

If there is no teaching technician in your area who knows enouigh to test you, you might try one. It can't hurt you and, if you pretty easily learn this skill, it might even be enough to substantiate that you are indeed reaching the "relaxation response" we are talking about.

Walt

Time for someone to start a business?

I wonder if it is time for someone to start a business renting out GSR machines for a month. Perhaps within the US. Have the person ship it on Fed-Ex to the next person, so shipment records would be automatic.

Any entrepeneurs out there?

Any GSR machines tough enough to be repeated shipped?

Hi Jim,

This subject comes up every so often and it's been discussed here on the BB.

I've got a GSR-2 ($60) and a $2,200 EEG (that's NOT including the cost of the computer that is also needed).

The GSR-2 consistently gets me to the desired alpha-theta. I can tell because I use the EEG to measure what is going on.

You can buy this simple, inexpensive unit at:

note -- there are other biofeedback units that use galvanic skin resistance on the same page.

Thanks for pointing this out and sharing the very interesting link.

At prices below $100 U.S. , a person could obviously buy the unit less expensively than renting one. The question (that you addressed) is whether a sub-$100 unit is sensitive enough and easy enough to use and to interpret for use by the general public, as contrasted with a really sensitive unit that requries professional operation (-: at professional costs :-)

Hi, RocketHealer.

We did this routinely at our centre in Lexington since it was the least expensive, and most effective, way to do things.

We just shipped them in their original packing boxes & marked them FRAGILE. By insuring them for their value, we never had a loss from shipping.

I would be happy to lend this 'site to let people know of the service should it get started.

Namaste` Walt
