From what I read, most brown recluse spider bites don't cause any (or not much) reaction in most people. The psychological fear seriously out-numbers the physiological reaction.

Where did you read that? Even if that were true, knowing what to do when physiological reactions do happen may prove very useful.

A few years ago, I read about a woman who was bitten in the forehead in our area while she was asleep. Two days later, she was dead.

I sure don't know where you got information that suggests the bite is benign or somewhat harmless. It's much more toxic than the bite of a black widow.

I think I read somewhere about using a poultice containing charcoal but not at all sure if I am remembering correctly. I've been meaning to find out the correct treatment and put the info on the medicine cabinet door. That spooked me reading about a woman in an urban area being bitten while sleeping.

Spooky, spooky.
