Something Else like enzymes needed during E-Diet??? (Robert!!)

Posted by RocketHealer Jim++ on December 03, 1999 at 15:44:39:

In the Remove, Replace, Reinoculate, Repair, article at healthcomm, under the Replace section, they say:

More common symptoms of enzyne insufficiency can include a prolonged feeling of fullness following meals, dyspepsia, or indigestion, abdominal bloating and gas, belching, undigested food particles in stools, and loose or diarrheal stools. Once determined, replacement therapy is individualized according to assessment and therapeutic test results. Replacement products include:

HCL salts with or without intrinsic factor
Plant-derived digestive enzymes (proteases, amylases, lipases, celluslases)
Animal-derived enzymes (proteased, amylases, lipases, elastases)
Microbe-derived digestive enzymes
Lactase enzyme supplements
Bile salts.

When I was on the E-diet (modified for a H/G, since I did not do well on it as written for AGs at all!) I had most all these symptoms, except the prolonged feeling of fullness-I felt "empty" rather than full. So when I read all the above symptoms in one place and one time, with one explanation, it struck me that perhaps there was some enzyme or something that I ought to have been taking while on the E-diet to avoid these "problems".

At the time, I just assumed that these symptoms were from one or more of the following:
Eating more fibre than I was used to.
Eating fruits that I was not accustomed to.
Insufficient chewing.
Shortened transit time due to fibre.
Fish oils instead of real red meat lipids.
The stress of being on the E-Diet.
Work stress.
Some old fungii dieing off due to greatly reduced carbohydrates intake.

Was it really some enzyme deficiency that I experienced while eating that particular combination of foods?

And if so, what should a H/G E-dieter do about it?

Thanks!
RHJ++

I had a similar experience and wonder if I am taking the appropriate steps.

RHJ and Others,

You probably know a lot more about this than I do, because you are very involved with this web site. I have only written once before and Dr. Stoll helped me with my priorities for recovery. Your story was so amazingly similar to mine.

In April of this year I went off sugar and all refined carbos slowly but surely through the potatoes not prozac plan. Many, many health problems cleared--I think I wrote a list of 15 of them to Dr. Stoll.

But in July I started feeling worse. I had all the symptoms you wrote--"prolonged feeling of fullness following meals, dyspepsia, or indigestion, abdominal bloating and gas, belching, undigested food particles in stools, and loose or diarrheal stools." (I, like you, didn't feel unusually full, though.) It was almost as if getting sugar out of my system allowed these symptoms to show up. Does that make sense?

In August I was diagnosed with mold allergies. Not surprisingly, I had gone from the all sugar diet to the all mold diet (cheese, vinegar, mayo, etc.). Now I feel quite well off molds sugars and molds. The *hardest* part is staying off molds because one apple may be moldy and another one may not.

If I understand Dr. Stoll correctly. I need to first practice SR for 3 to 6 months, since I probably have LGS.

And then I should get checked for a disbiosis problem (and perhaps Candida-related disorder) that would probably entail checking the enzymes. Is that correct?

P.S. Dr. Stoll, I have located a physical theapist who will do biofeedback for SR. I don't know if he is any good, but I called around and asked to speak to the therapists and then explained about what is in Martha Davis' book on SR. I hope that works, because I wasn't able to locate a biofeedback person from the web.

Thanks for bringing this topic up.

Sue P.

Jim,

None of the digestive supplements should be used during the first 7 days on the E-diet. They can be used during the testing phase (after you test each of the individual supplements for a reaction).

One problem is that different metabolic types will need different digestive supplements to be effective. The other problem is that we want the body to 'normalize' to where it should be. The feedback loops that are built into our body will take it where it needs to go in all but the MOST severe cases.

All the other things that you mentioned could be causing the symptoms instead of some enzymatic insufficiency.

Bob

Hi, Sue.

ALL of the great healers in human history have likened chronic illness reversal to "peeling an onion".

Thanks Dr. Stoll

Dr. Stoll,

I don't know if you remember me but I just wanted to say thanks. I will get back to you have biofeedback. I love the book by Martha Davis et al.

I just wanted you to know that I believe you exercise of dropping my shoulders into their girdle as you suggested has done more for me than TM. My shoulders are chronically up around my shoulders and I remind myself about 10 times a day to drop them. I dropped them in the grocery store today and had to tell myself three times while there to drop them again--always over silly issues like which cashier was the fastest.

Sue P.

I meant to say my shoulders are generally up around my ears. Sorry. NMI

Thanks, Sue.

Self-awareness is one of the important things that happens when people are successful with SR.
