Why a stone age diet? stone age man had low life expectancy?

Stone age man had low life expectancy, didn't he? So why is his diet supposed to be good for us? Also isn't cooking the plants instead of eating them raw better, because it kills their natural poisons?

I believe stone age man would be more likely to die from being attacked by an animal, warfare, weather, etc than from a heart attack or cancer.

The theory is that there is some evidence that Paleolithic Hunter-Gatherers lived longer than the next generation of men, who were basically farmers.
