Day Three of Elimination Diet

Posted by Peter Wray on January 24, 1999 at 12:16:48:

Almost half way there!

Linda is feeling worse today - weak and dizzy. Seems to be a real effort to eat anything. The nausea is still present and seems to be worse in the evenings.

She is having just two small bowel movements in the AM and there appears to be undigested food in them. It was suggested to her that she take hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes to aid with her digestion. Any thoughts?

She has found a good colonic therapist and will persue that this week.

She still has a lot of fear that this diet won't work, but she is sticking with it so far.

Thanks

Peter

Peter,

No digestive enzymes for now and don't let anyone talk you into giving extra HCL ever.

Linda is an EXTREME Agriculturist. The less she eats the better she will in all probability feel (especially once she has passed through withdrawal). Just make sure she stays well hydrated.

Now I'm going to be an asshole.

I know how hard you are trying to get Linda well but I've never 'spoken' with her here on this BB. By not doing so she has made YOU responsible for her health. When I see a comment like "She still has a lot of fear that this diet won't work, but she is sticking with it so far" I can see the writing on the wall that she doesn't have the volition to see this thing through.

These are some of the reasons why I'm spending so much time in my book trying to frame a strong logic behind the ideas of leaky gut syndrome, candidiasis, food allergies and inherited metabolism. The root cause of arthritis and more specifically Linda's lupus is that she is MALADAPTED. My hope is that if folks can realize how they are maladapted they will have the volition to do things that are sometimes very difficult.

Without Linda actually wanting to get involved in her own recovery (and intimately understanding the process) I can see very easily where she might give up in frustration. For all she knows the only reason to continue doing something that she doesn't like is because her well meaning husband is communicating with some guy on the internet that says that it will help. To make things worse none of the other allopathic and alternative docs have suggested the same.

I understand where you're coming from. To a very great extent, I'm the fingers that do the typing. Linda is not an internet user and I live on the internet, both at home and in my job. The questions that I'm asking we have both discussed or Linda has specifically asked me to raise with you or Walt.

This is not to say that I'm not doing a lot of research along the way and providing as much encouragement as I can.
You see Linda as an extreme Agriculturalist. In previous discussions and based on tests for LDL/HDL and uric acid you referred to her as Alkaline. Are these one and the same or are we mising something?

Why no to the HCL?

She will hold off on the digestive enzymes for now.

Thanks

Peter

Peter,

What Dr. Wiley referred to as ALKALINE in BioBalance is what I will be calling an Agriculturist metabolism. Too often the word alkaline conjures up Naturopathic ideas that have nothing to do with the blood plasma pH theory that Dr. Wiley developed.

I've never seen anyone that needed extra HCL IF they ate in a manner appropriate for their metabolic type. I can only see supplemental HCL as clouding the picture, in some creating irritation and actually keeping the person from properly 'normalizing'.
