day 2 of elimination diet

Posted by Denise on February 03, 1999 at 17:12:10:

Dear Dr. Stoll:

I'm now on the evening of day 2 of the elimination diet. Yesterday evening my cravings for bread, sweets, and cheese were so bad I was crying. Today I was ok; I kept my mind off my cravings by doing physical work. But now I feel profoundly depressed. I don't want to do anything and I don't want to eat. Physically I feel fine. Is this just the way my body is going through withdrawal?

Denise,

This IS withdrawal and in all probability it will get worse on the third day with perhaps the addition of headache and fatigue. You basically just have to batten down the hatches and ride it out.

Most folks start seeing some clearing by day four which continues through day 6 or 7.

If you don't feel like eating, don't. Just remember to keep drinking lots of spring water.

Do you think that you have inherited an Agriculturist metabolism?

Bob

Thanks for responding so soon. Yes, I think I am agriculturalist. I can't tolerate much salt, and though I have no problems eating red meat in small quantities, I feel "heavy" if I eat what's considered to be a "normal" portion.

Well, I will stick it out. I was just expecting my asthma to worsen, not to feel depressed.

Denise
