Antacids Allowed on E-diet?

Posted by Phyllis A. on February 26, 1999 at 10:50:07:

Well, I'm hangin' in there. I hope I haven't screwed up to much, but I could not drink the last 1/4-1/2 cup of the mixture last night. I got to the point where if I took one more drink it was literally going to cause me to throw-up, so I thought it best to stop rather than "loosing from the wrong end" what I did get down. I might add that I did throw-up this morning, but there was no food on my stomach. Mainly just phlegm (?sp) from some congestion.

I just had a peach for breakfast and I'm starting to feel some heartburn. I'm not to the point that I need to take an antacid, but thought I should ask if that is allowed in case I do feel the need later. Usually I take Tums or Pepcid.

Another question, is any ice okay to use or does it need to be made w/ spring water? I was hoping to get a glass from the cafeteria for my lunch water.

Phyllis,

No tums or pepcid. Trish is right, you can try some of the alka-seltzer gold.

Steamed vegetables will be easier on your stomach than fruit.

The ice cubes should be made from spring water.

Good luck.

Phyllis, Sorry to hear you had such an adverse reaction to the stuff in the green bottle. I felt somewhat nauseaous when I awakened this morning so I was anxious to get some food in me. I decided to go for the cod, as I was not up for looking at the trout's head just yet. My first portion was not enough so I broiled more (ate about 8 oz. total). I was hungry! In addition I had some steamed parsnips and a baked pear. Sounds like a strange breakfast, but the food tasted pretty good to me actually.

I can tell I am going to need to keep way more fish on hand. I suspected I leaned toward the H-G or Mixed metabolic type. I was ready to keep right on eating after my second round of fish but drank more water... and then started thinking about my lunch :-) I am baking sweet potatoes, rhutabaga, and turnips. Actually I like root vegetables a lot, but had never eaten parsnips before. I like them!

It is a spring like day here so this evening I am going to cook the trout over an open fire. This is an interesting experiment! So far so good.

Except one thing Bob... when does the Magnesium Citrate wear off? I'd like to take a walk but am fearful of going to far from home if you know what I mean jelly bean. I suppose after I eat this noon meal I might have more insight but right now let's just say I don't want to far from the ladies room.

All the best,
Denise

Good question Denise (mag. citrate)

Denise,

Was wondering how you were doing - had just finished e-mailing you, Phyllis, and Johnelle and checked the board and saw your message!

I'm feeling pretty good, except I'm a little tired. I just finished lunch and am still hungry, so I need to get back in to the kitchen to remedy that. I can't believe how much cod I've eaten so far today (almost a pound between breakfast and lunch).

But I was also wondering when the mag. citrate is going to stop doing it's job. This is really draining (literally).

Me again, I don't know what is going on with our system... but I just got my mornings mail, that had gone to my husband who happens to be in Washington, DC. So my fellow travelers there could be a several hour delay in my getting personal e-mail. Not to mention the fact that it is taking me an inordinate amount of time to access the internet. Other than that I'm fine, really I'm fine. I don't think the brain fog has set in yet... at least not any worse than it already was.
Be well,
Denise

Elimination Ladies,

I was feeling the effects right through Monday...sorry. It got better as the weekend progressed, though, and not as urgent or often.

Sara, you crack me up!

Good to hear from the gang! I had a pear and peach for
breakfast, and cod, sweet potato and zucchini for lunch. I
was so relieved to find with that first bite of cod that it
tasted GOOD, since we will become friends over the next
week! I'm light-headed, a bit shaky, and ready for a nap
this afternoon. Late

Denise, I just sent you another note that you might get (rather than Charlie) this time. I think you are signed on as another ID than the one we have been e-mailing to.

Hi Denise,

This jelly bean knows what you mean in regard to the magnesium citrate.

The problem is that it varies for everyone on how well they 'eliminate' after taking it. In my case I had the runs for a couple of days after taking it -- yet the I was pretty much done with the 'urgency issue' by late afternoon of the first day. With you it might be different.

The parsnips ARE good aren't they? You couldn't hardly find them a couple of year ago here in Louisville, but now most of the stores carry them. I like to think that somehow my efforts here locally have contributed to this parsnip revolution!

Bob

I didn't get your e-mail Phyllis :-(

I don't dare attempt to change the settings on this puppy for fear of really messing things up... I don't know what to make of it are you typing in bluheron@kansas.net? Or are you responding to me via my messages on the BB? Inquiring minds want to know? I might actually have to resort to using a telephone to get this straightened out.

Hey my lunch was pretty good... I cooked so many vegetables that I couldn't eat them all! As opposed to wanting to eat the table settings when I had my breakfast fish!

Denise

PS: Trish YOU CRACK ME UP! There has been about a 3hr lapse between when I wrote this message and the time I was able to send it. Still haven't received your email Phyllis

For Denise: e-mail confusion

Here is what I know about the puzzle....

This morning I noticed on one of the e-mail correspondences that a "different" name was in the To: or CC: list. I thought someone new had joined in our adventure. When you later sent a note that you didn't know what was going on with your mail and that Charlie was getting it, I decided to investigate (I already had my computer hat on) from this end. Hummm....You are sending mail to us, but are not getting our notes. That told me that your "connection" was good, so I checked out the notes. I had been sending you e-mail at Bluheron@kansas.net (the address you gave us), but I noticed in the mail you are sending today it is coming from CGriffin@facts.ksu.edu. That is when I put two and two together and thought that Charlie (in Washington) was signing on as Bluheron, and that you are Cgriffin (at home). I've sent you mail at both places, so let me know if you get any of it or if Charlie is forwarding to you. By the way, what address is Charlie forwarding the mail to you?

Don't change any "settings" until your PC expert can help you out (is that Charlie...and by the way, who is Charlie?).

P.S.: I AM HAVING EXTREME CHOCOLATE CRAVINGS!

Hey all!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with chocolate cravings - I did expect to get some cravings, but I didn't know they would be so EXTREME. My husband (bless his little pointed head) was kind enough to make a full pot of coffee this evening, forgetting that I can't have any. And then he had corn dogs for a snack while we were watching a movie. Would the state my mind/body is in right now qualify as temporary insanity? And he's just lighting up a cigarette as I type this (I just quit again on Monday). If he survives the night, it's only because his guardian angel has taken up residence here.

I have had four full meals today, but still feel hungry (but not for anything on the e-diet list). I am feeling achy and have a moderate headache going also. Took some alka-seltzer gold, and am drinking ALOT of spring water. Guess I should just go to bed and try to sleep this off. Hope tomorrow won't be too much worse (although I have a feeling I'm just hitting the tip of the iceberg at this point).

'night all.....
Sara
