H-G and E-diet

Posted by Linda J. on March 03, 1999 at 08:52:29:

Robert,

All the advice you have given me has helped me enormously and I thank you. I positively am an extreme H-G. The niacinamide, B12, Vitamin A and panthothenic acid have really made a difference. I've following the H-G list you posted a few days ago and I can do this, I don't miss any foods and feel great on it. I know my allergies, they are wheat, tomato, oats, corn (feel like I can't breath when I eat it), salmon, peppers, tea and soy. The only one I am unsure about is dairy because when I stopped it for 3 wk I used soy to replace it (that is how I discovered soy allergy), went back to milk and didn't notice any effect.

I want to start the E-diet 3/11, but I am afraid it is going to be too light for me. Since I already know the above, do I really need to do the E-diet? I have a fast metabolism, have always been underweight. Today I was only an hour late eating breakfast and when I went to take the first bite salvia actually squirted into the air (that's how hungry I get!

Please tell me if I would really benefit from the E-diet at this point, because I'm unsure if I want to "rock the boat" right now, but want to do everything I can to get better.

Linda J.

Linda,

I am on the last day of the e-diet, and almost didn't do it at all (I rescheduled it many times) because I was afraid of losing weight (I also have a fast metabolism and have always been underweight or borderline). However, I've actually GAINED between 1 and 2 pounds, so not everybody loses weight when they do the e-diet.

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do!

Sara

Hi Linda,

If you feel good, if you feel clear, you don't really need to run the elimination diet.

While the elimination diet is useful for weeding out food sensitivities it is also unique since it offers folks the experience of withdrawal followed by clearing. For those that have severe withdrawal and then experience a complete reversal and clearing of symptoms in just a few days it is a revelation, and an important one.

Since you were able to achieve a 'clear' state your were able to figure out your major food allergies. Some folks manipulate foods but they never get to that clear state to see the unmasked effects of other foods. The elimination diet will CONSISTENTLY help them get to that clear state.

The difference that you felt when adding the B-vitamin supplement confirms that you are EXTREME. You'll find that during the next six months that the supplements will have less of magnified effect they are having now.

Well, day 2 and I'm still not very hungry. it is almost 9 pm and I havn't eaten dinner. I am going to have a pear. The fish only tastes good at lunch, kind of yucky at dinner. I had a headache earlier, but now it seems to have gone away. I thought I would feel worse by now. I hope I havn't spoken too soon.
