broken bones

Hi,
I am in such need of advice, hope you can help!
I twisted my foot while being startled awake, I jumped up not realizing my foot had gone to sleep.(inversion)
Well, I waited a week before going to the Dr.
It just continued to get worse...I had radiographs done but they told me it wasn't broken or sprained.
I have very specific pain over my fifth metatarsal but not at the point were you would have a Jones fracture or at the tuberosity. It's the opposite side of the metatarsal next to the 4th.
I can only walk a bit then have pain at the sight and continued aching throughout my foot, ankle and now up my shin bone. At this point I can't walk on it at all.
I had a second set of radiographs with the same result.
I explained the situation and they still took x-rays in the same positions...AP, Lateral & oblique.
Now I don't know what to do...I have a high pain threshold so I know i'm not over exaggerating.

can you help! Elena

Hi, Elena.

You have a fracture until proven otherwise. A torn ligament in the same area would not show on xray and would cause the same symptoms. It would also require the same treament (at least 6 weeks of casting.

You need to get different docs working on this problem. Get copies of all your records and xrays and go to a sports medicine specialist.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
