lump on wrist following scaphoid fx

I saw the dr this past week for a lump on my wrist following a scaphoid fracture June 2nd. I was casted for 9 weeks and in August on the 9th had the cast removed. Since then I have noticed a painful lump on my wrist bone right above the tendon. The dr said it was not a gangloin cyst but gave it another name. The name was named after the dr that discovered it many years ago. I was given (the most painful) a cortisone shot on Thursday but since then it seems to be growing and it hurts alot more. How can this be treated and what is this?

Hi, Joy.

This is a n example of the fact that most docs still ignore Dr Thomas Becker's breakthrough (20 years now) for healing these kind of fractures with trickle DC electrical stimulation. How long will it take? Docs are starting to use it for non-union of tibial fractures but it could be used in ANY fracture and shorten the time it takes to heal by an average of 50%.

Hi Walt,

The lump on my wrist I have discovered on my own to be a ganglion cyst. I accidently hit it pretty hard against a door jam and all of a sudden it was gone. Now, my problem would be that it hurts worse now than it ever has. The scaphoid fracture is healed at this point and my main question is will i be able to return to work with full use of this hand. I type for a living for the deaf. I have to be able to type 85 words a minute and as I am typing now I range MAYBE 20 words a minute. I am also having tingling in my fingers and periods of numbness in my thumb, first second and part of the third digit. This is driving me crazy and I dont know what to do about it. I was given a cortisone shot about a week ago that only resolved the problem for about 4 hours then it was back to extreme pain. Every time I move my thumb and first finger it triggers pain and the tingling sensation. Please help with any information you can. Thank you!

Hi, Joy.

Have you looked at the archives for ganglion cyst?

Walt
