My 8 year old son

Hi again Dr. Stoll

Tis me once again. But this time reguarding my 8 year old son. I am hoping you can offer advice or at least relive my mind. I will try to make it brief but give you all the info. My 8 year old son has always had a problem with bruising. they have run blood tests and nothing comes up as being wrong. It wasn't untill the school accused me of child abuse because of a rather large bruise on his arm. We have no clue where he gets the bruises. When he was about 3 I told the doctor I was afraid someone would accuse me of hurting him, at that time he had 32 bruises, the doctor and I counted. The doctor finally agreed to send him to an hemotologist, he goes later this month after waiting 8 months. But while waiting I'd say the past week and a half Matt has been suffering severe dizziness and he vomits several times a day. Matt has no fever. no pain anywhere accept his head not sure if it is a headache or the dizziness. hard to get an 8 year old son to describe it. we did have the flu here last month be he fully recovered in a week. My question is this, What could be causing this?! What could we be looking at here? Is it just a passing thing or could something serious be wrong?

please help Dr. Stoll

PS. Sorry forgot to add. all the doctors have said about the bruises are that they are soft tissue bruisings. he gets a reoccuring bruise on his belly lower left side about the size of a gold ball probably larger, when it is present it is very black in colour, he has no pain in the area. I have asked him if it hurts he said it doesn't to me if I had a bruise that big you'd think it would hurt. if it was an injury causing it

thanks you again Dr Stoll it is a comfort to know I can turn to you for advice.

Tammy.

Unless this is the simplest thing he could have, that you can easily resolve (within a month of replacing what he may need), this is a serious problem (and his present symptoms could be related). It is absolutely ridiculous for him to have to wait for an evaluation till THEN!

If he were mine, I would start at least 1500 milligrams of bioflavinoids per day at once. If he has no new bruises after a month, you can cancel the appointment.

If he still gets bruises he needs to see the hematologist but your doc could at least order a CBC with differential and indices NOW!

The trick with bioflavinoids is that, commercially, it is hard to get pure bioflavinoids. They are almost always diluted (a lot). Your healthfood owner (Best go to one where the owner is at least an ND.) could help you find at least that dose (diluted or not).

If this works, he will not have to stay on that dose forever (although there can be no possible harm except to your pocketbook). See the archives about bruising.

Be sure your present doc knows about his new symptoms!!!! His brain might be showing these same bruises. Remember that this is happening all through his body and the skin is just where you (and his doc) can see them!

Let us know what happens.

Walt
