I'm not writing because I want to know about accutane. However, I'm doing a science report & I happened to come across this web site. I just wanted to say that u could definately be more polite in your responses to people requesting information. Although I understand that you're "too old to beat around the bush", it's common curtesy, & that's pretty basic. Both my parents are doctors, & when patients wake them up at 2 in the morning w/ some stupid complaint, they still manage to respond in a nicer way than u do. hopefully, you'll take the hint & be a little more polite in your letters

I practiced conventional medicine in a small rural town in Ohio for 10 years. I got more than my share of the middle of the night, calls for non-emergency things, since there had not been a new doctor in that town for 25 years when I came there. I know how important it is to be patient & courteous and, as a matter of fact, I had a reputation for being the most patient and courteous doc anyone had before experienced---both in my office & hospital practice.
I make my comments in a very calculated way (here on this BB) to produce the most result. I have had more than 30 years to hone that judgement. Many people who come to this BB are in despair. Anger is a lot more energetic state of mind than despair. I couldn't care less if that anger is directed towards me so long as the person uses it to create action.
For those who choose to be turned off by any anger produced, they need to suffer a bit longer, I guess.
My take is that you would class this response as "not polite"..
