The doc says it's costrocontritis, but I am also having discharge from my breast. I have implants 10 yrs now. Could it be that? They say no, that I have high hormone level. My breast and chest, underarm, arm aches, and sometimes burns. I can't do anything. 3wks now. Stress makes it worse. Meds don't work. What should I do next? Any advice on both subjects whould be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, Sandy.
Chronic stress-effect storage in the hypothalamus is the most common cause of the breast secretion, costochondritis AND eventually the autoimmune response to things like implants.
SR is your most important single thing and you will get results in 6-12 months at most. Working on the bracing (see archives) will get you the quickest results and help you learn the SR at the same time. See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.
Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Dearest Sandy,
My dear friend, Pam, is a member of
Dr. Stoll's BB, and has asked me to write to you to see if I can offer any help or guidance.
I have breast implants also, and have become ill from them. As a result, I have extensively studied all aspects concerning implants and related subjects for the past 15 years. I also own and moderate a support forum [SBI Prayer Forum], a web site [Life After Breast Implants], and am owner/moderator of a public newsgroup about breast augmentation and reconstruction [BAAR]. I will give you addresses to these sites/groups at the end of this email and perhaps they will help you to investigate and research your health problems.
The symptoms you describe above are very common to breast implant [BI] patients. Pain in the breasts, chest, underarms, and shoulders is a classic sign of BI-related illness, and is usually from capsular contracture and/or rupture.
Discharge from the nipple is also quite common, but is most often found when a woman's implants have ruptured. I had a discharge from my nipples when I had my BI ruptures.
The burning sensation you state you are having is also quite common when there has been a rupture of either silicone gel or saline-filled BI.
This is not to say that you don't have costrochontritis. You could be having this irritation of your ribs, cartilage, etc as a result of inflammation from your implants or from an illness associated with you BI.
I would recommend examination by a plastic surgeon who is well-educated with problems from implants...and one that is familiar with explantation surgery. And, I would also recommend examination by a rheumatologist who is also familiar with breast implant-related illnesses.
An MRI and/or an Ultrasound would aid in determining if you have a rupture, but they are not 100% accurate in diagnosing such. I am not sure of their percentage of accuracy...it is high, but not perfect. These diagnostic studies are the best we have in determining if there is a problem with a woman's implants.
Your best 'ammunition' is education. Educating yourself about BI and related issues is empowering, for you will be able to determine what is wrong and what course of action you should take. It also helps you to decide if the recommendations you receive from your health care provider are the best advice for you.
To help you to learn about BI, I would like to invite you to join SBI [listed above], which is a support group that provides information about breast implants and tissue transfer breast surgeries, and currently contains over 12,000 posts. The benefit of being a member is that you can research the archives, the links on the bookmarks, and can receive daily newsletters that are very helpful with the info they provide. If you would like to join, just send me an email and I will gladly add you to our membership roster. The group is so named because it was originally created as a memorial site for a wonderful member we lost as a result of her breast implants. Since then, the group has evolved into a wonderful BI resource.
My web site has a lot of info, as well. There are over 15 other pages in the site that are focused on specific issues involving the BI Issue.
Here is the addy for this site:

I think you will find it very helpful!
Sandy, from what you have said in this short paragraph above, it is my first reaction to believe that you have a BI rupture[s]. I am not a physician, of course, and my advice/observations are only based upon what experience I do have. But, you sure are describing what it is like to have a rupture!
Also, it is important to note that the average length of time after augmentation that women begin to have health problems and trouble with their implants is ten years. Mine began right at this mark. Some women have them earlier, and some later.
Do you have any other symptoms? Do you have joint or muscle pain? Unexplained Fatigue lasting longer than six months? Hair loss? Rashes? Fever? Swollen lymph nodes? Anything else?
Please write to me and describe your situation in more detail. Please let me know if you have any questions after viewing my web site, too. Let me know what kind of implants you have, too,,,whether they are silicone gel or saline filled silicone implants, textured or smooth, and if they are placed above the pectoral muscle or below it.
Please send your reply to:
Lany25@webtv.net
and if it is full, please resend your email to my alternate email:
edonnelly@webtv.net
I will be glad to help all that I can. Also, please let me know where you are located and the names of the large cities around you and I will check my referral list to see if there are any "silicone-educated" doctors there that I know of who can help you.
I look forward to hearing from you soon~
Blessings,
Lany
PS Please attach this email with your reply...thanks!
