I have spent hours, over many days, reviewing the BB in many areas. However, I'm left with asking a few moments of your time. OK - quick history: Rear-end car accident 2yrs ago=6 months physical therapy=time off I took for body to heal=new orthropaedist=chiropractor (who I still see-love the guy!)=Pain Management specialist=epidural=anterior fusion w/graft & plate at C5-C7 on 11/01=3months PT. Left side of neck, shoulder, arm is still painful but not as bad;muscles still weak, nerves still somewhat "nervous", realize some permanent damage may be present; bone isn't filling in well; bent screw at C7; slight numbness on the right side of face. I always had "jaw pain" on the left after the accident, but was hoping that the surgery would alleviate this. Of course, it didn't. Did the severe jaw pain, tooth pain, headches for three-days-at-a-time thing. Went to a specialist in TMD; says it is because of the neck muscles are still trumatized (spasms, weak, tension). I wear an appliance 24/7 - but have only seen the Dr. 2x - & go to Physcial therapy. I completely understand the role that tensiosn & stress plays on my body - however I'm one of those in a high-stress job (I'm a counselor in a high-stress prison). Four weeks ago I aggravated my left neck by placing a heavy bag on my shoulder (I avoid this at all costs, but was carrying other things and my hands were too weak to carry all). So, I had sharp pain & spasms, but noticed 2 swollen lymph nodes on the left side of my neck the next day. I now find a two new ones popping up every week. All the nodes have been on the left until last week, the physical therapist discovered one on the right. I lightly touch my neck once a week to check for new nodes. My PCP says I must have sensitive fingers. The nodes are not painful only the muscles hurt, no fever, no nightsweats (although it's been so hot here, who wouldn't sweat), my PCP is puzzled-CBC came back fine. Could the heavy bag have obstructed a lymph vessel? Could this orthodontic applaince be obstructing a lymph vessel? I've never been one to grind my teeth and am not one to brace and allow my teeth to touch when not eating. By-the-by, I had I-131 treatment for Graves' 18 months ago; athrospcopic surgery for severe lateral & medical meniscus tears, removal of the shredded peices of my ACL & chondromalacia patella 4 months agao; epidural at L5-S1 2 months ago (DDD from L3-S1, scoliosis, spondylosis, spondylisthesis after 20 years of back pain. I see my "chiro-cracker" for back adjustments and he periodically does neck adjustments when he feels things are way too tight - oh, and he supported the neck surgery for he could see how things were deteriorating despite other attempts). Any guidance will be welcomed! Thank you in advance.

Hi, Michele.
Nearly all your problems can be directly related to chronic total-body bracing.
The very best thing you could do is practice effective SR as many times a day as you can (AT LEAST TWICE). You will begin to see results in a few months and a lot in a year. 5 years from now you will still be seeing additional benefits.
See the SR archives and the bracing archives to start and let us know what you learn.
Asyou begin to improve, please share your experiences with the BB participants. When they see that even someone with all your damage can inprove.......

Thank you very much for your reply. One problem with having so many Doctor Specialists, is that they tend to forget that although they may think of my body in parts and sections, it is actually attached and one organism - stub your toe and you get a headache. I am ordering your book - but I was curious if you know anything about "The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook" by Martha Davis, et al. Not only for me, but my job-part of my job is that I am the Director of a relapse prevention program for the criminal offender and these guys need to learn SR! If for no other reason than to stop putting their stress on me:). Once again, thank you.

Thanks, Michele.
Davis, et al's book is the one I recommend for self learning SR. It is plastered all over the 'site for SR.
