I got a severely ruptured disc C5-C6 as well. I am just 33 by a few days and I went though some of the most pain I ever felt..Let me start off by saying that I was very active, sports weightlifting, riding quads, water skiing, snowboarding then extreme pain kicked in that at first (three or four days prior) was just some neck pain that I had before but usually chiropractor fixed me up, but this time after 3 treatments it only got WORSE. So I had a weightlifting Dr. friend call me some voixx since I don't even have family Dr. he said no worries very good stuff, three to five days later waited for them to kick in, they never did I couldn't sleep couldn't sit. I had to lay down a lot or stand, so finally sleep deprived I couldn't take the pain no more didn't know what to do so I went to ER they took X-ray gave me vicoden es and soma (very few) and said go see you primary docter I was like what can't we do something, he acted like it was a fever or something so I left. I thought I would get relief now and sleep was I wrong it took two weeks to get appt with Dr. whole new patiet thing I was pissed, in pain, and desperate I called my weightlifting Dr. friend told him the story and got more meds from him same as above to hold me over I was also up to 20 motrim and per day and at least 6 sleeping pills at night. Well nearly 1 month later finally see Doctor he acts like ok well we will try to get mri (referral bs) for you to see whats going on in the meantime told him about extreme pain and all the pills I was taking so he gave me percocet and I was kinda happy finally thinking no pain after over a month well they worked a little but still needed 2-3 sleeping pills with them..Well after MRI and then specialist and then another now 4 months later still home bound no activity very depressed and they think it just do head traction and eph cort inj and all good (basically they say don't work-out, don't go riding, don't jog, no sports etc etc.. Well I finaly wanted to work -out you know get moving feel better well pain, stiffness coming back after two vey light work-outs.THERE IS MORE TO LIFE BESIDES SLEEP, EAT.......Anyone have any answers I got to move Dr. said he wants to avoid surgery because of age and activity's help...help....help...Anyone have good luck after cervical surgery C5-C6 fusion, metal plates something.....I sorry so long just very upset....KB

I would recommend SR, prolotherapy, neurocranial restructuring, chiropractic (or other bodywork at the very least) before going for surgery.

Fusions are done to create stability in a joint. Prolotherapy does this naturally. NCR can help with overall spinal posture/alignment as can chiropractic.

Hi, KB.

You are coming up against the allopathic monopoly. No one seems to care what you are going through and the monopoly keeps you from going elsewhere.

Your disk cannot be "severely ruptured" or they would at least have you in a collar and be scheduling surgery for you.

That means that you can probably stop the pain yourself by going to the bracing and the spinal archives and getting rid of your bracing. Go to the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

Listen to HY.

Let us know what you learn.
