About two years ago I had a bout with pneumonia that I treated with 2 different antibiotics for about a month. I recovered but began to feel a slight pain in my chest, around the sternum. Most of the time it was constant, yet also came and went. It was hard to pinpoint its cause. It got worse eventually and I started going to doctors. The pain increased and often was in my back, between my shoulder blades. I couldn't link it to anything, I am fit physically and mountain bike regularly. The doctors couldn't find anything, after 3 months of total frustration and constant pain I opted for Gal Bladder removal. It didn't help me drop. I woke up with the same pain. I was soon in emergency with esophageal spasms and went on some smooth muscle relaxant that I felt about killed me. I went off it asap and the spasms returned, but I soon went on Amitriptolene (sp) and it helped. I eventually weaned myself from that and began to work on the acid reflux with any and all kinds of anti acid products, from over the counter to Prilosec etc. That is where I am at now. I just found this site; I am buying me a juicer today and will start the GRJ today. It has been a long rough road, and I am still in the woods. I know that stress compounded and started this problem. I have often questioned the antibiotics that I was on for a month and wondered if I had a yeast problem on top of all of this. I have just ordered the recommended Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook as well as the Whole Foods book. What else can I do? Is there really a cure for this? I had about given up hope. Thanks for a great site!

It sounds like you have taken the right stepts to get on track. You may very well have a yeast problem as the result of the antibiotics, so you could at least start with an anti-candida diet. You are just at the beginning of the road to regain your health, so have patience. I know it's difficult, but with SR, proper diet and some form of aerobic exercise, you should see some improvement after a few months or so. Good luck!

Thanks, Doug.
This is a TOTALLY unnecessary condition! As you get well, please share your progress with the BB so as to help others avoid all your unnecessary suffering.
The GRJ will help with the GERD but the bracing behind the costochondritis that causes your chest pain and your LGS (that is behind your GERD) can only be resolved by SR.
See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms. The bracing archives will help your costo symptoms the fastest.
